Rules Imposed by High Court against TET Qualified Teachers with no Prescribed Qualification

Allahabad High Court, in a proceeding, instructed the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) to terminate the services of the assistant teachers who are TET (Teachers Eligibility Test) qualified but do not possess the prescribed qualification. On the special plea of Mr. Prabhat Kumar Verma and other appellants, Justice Dilip Gupta and Justice Jayant Banerjee passed the same order.

  • This order says that the concerned BSA (Basic Shiksha Adhikari) will be given the authority to take the action.
  • In addition, BSA will be the only authority to examine and assess the capabilities and qualification of the assistant teachers.
  • It was also mentioned in the order that there are so many assistant teachers who had qualified TET but never studied math or science while pursuing graduation.
  • There was a circular passed in 2011 that said only those applicants who had studied math or science in graduation could become the assistant teachers.
  • As an effect of this judgment, the respective BSAs will have to examine the qualification and eligibility of all assistant teachers to check whether they studied science or math during their graduation or not.
