According to the decisive considerations of the National Testing Agency which is a self-sustained body for conducting entrance examinations for higher educational institutions approved by the Union Cabinet, the competitive examination namely, UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) will be conducted twice a year as proclaimed by the Education Minister Prakash Javadekar, respectively. The examination will be regulated in an online mode (Computer Based). At Shastri Bhawan, on Saturday i.e 7th July’2018 Javadekar has mentioned that the syllabus, the pattern of questions, examination fees and language choices will all remain similar as before, but the only fluctuation is that the examinations will be conducted online.
The Education Minister has announced that the NTA will be commencing with this perspective from the approaching academic year (2019) with the UGC-NET as the first examination held in the month of December this very year (2018). Not only this, the other competitive academically challenging examinations like the NEET, JEE Mains as well as the CMET. The NEET will be conducted in the months of February and May in 2019 and the JEE Main will be held in the months of January and April of the same year, comprehensively. Without any alterations in the marking schemes, exam syllabus and examination patterns, the students will have to work hard and secure well in both or any one of the both so as to acquire an outstanding rank.
- To pay adherence to the norm and objectives of the NTA, the UGC-NET will be conducted once more in this year from 2nd December to 16th December with subjected to two shifts on Saturdays and Sundays, as one has already been adjourned in the March-April months of 2018.
- The candidates who wish to prepare and thus, appear for the entrance examinations in 2019 will be facilitated with free computer test practice centers ensuring an access of preparation and appearance in the examination by all the rural and urban aspirants.
- The candidates appearing for the UGC NET will have an opportunity to choose the dates for appearing in the examination from 2019.

As specified by the discussion and decision of the Cabinet, the NTA will act as an autonomous body with the core responsibility of conducting all the entrance examinations twice a year with It has been added to the provisioned fact that the other imminent education boards like the CBSE and AICTE will be relieved from the responsibility of conducting the entrance examination and the sole authority, NTA will evaluate the academic abilities and intelligence of all the aspirants appearing in the same.
