CEED 2017 Exam Pattern

The CEED 2017 Exam Pattern consists of structure of the paper, marks allotted, duration, subjects, negative marking if present and types of questions which helps the students to make plans before they appear for the exam. The CEED is a computer as well as pen paper based exam .It offers admissions to aspirants in different campuses of IIT such as in Bombay, Guwahati, Delhi, Kanpur, Hyderabad and also in IISc Bangalore for M.Des and PhD programme. Applicants who want to appear for the examination can apply in August, 2017. The language of paper will be in English only. Candidates appearing for CEED 2016 are expected to have high-quality drawing skills, logical skills and an ability to change and communicate through sketching and drawing. CEED 2017 Exam Pattern

The question paper is comprised in two parts:

  • Part 1- Computer Based
  • Part 2- Pen and Paper Based

Part 1:

The paper consists of 50 multiple choice questions and it will be based on General awareness, Mathematical and symbolic Aptitude, Basic Design ability and Observation and visualization.

The structure of paper is as divided into 3 sections:

Section 1– It consists of 5 questions based on numerical and for each right answer they will receive 2 marks and 0.6 marks will be deducted for ever wrong answer.

Section2– It consists of 10 questions and for every right answer 2 marks are awarded and no marks are deducted for any wrong answers.

Section 3– It consists of 35 questions and for each wrong answer 0.6 marks is reduced and 2 marks are added for every correct answer.

Part 2:

It is a pen and paper based exam and based on assessed on their design and hand drawing capabilities.

The duration of the exam is 120 minutes.

The structure of paper is divided into 2 sections:

Section 1- Mandatory

  • Sketching
  • Creativity and Imagination
  • Innovative thinking3

Section 1- Optional

Applicants can answer any one of the below mentioned questions and each consists of 50 marks.

  • Visual Communication and Interaction
  • Optional Animation Design
  • Optional Product Design
