NTSE Eligibility Criteria 2019

06 Oct, 2018

NTSE Eligibility Criteria 2019- National Talent Search Exam (NTSE) was initiated under the scheme called National Science Talent Search Scheme (NSTSS) by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in the year 1963. Under this scheme scholarships used to be provided to the students based on their performance in the written exam, a project report and an interview. In 1976, the NSTS scheme underwent a change and widened its horizons by providing scholarships for engineering and medicine as well. Keeping the changing educational system in the mind, the scheme was made open for X, XI and XII students through separate exams.

NTSE Exam consists of Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) followed by personal interview. On successfully clearing the exam, candidates get scholarship for pursuing courses in sciences and social sciences up to doctoral level and for professional courses, such as medicine and engineering up to second-degree level.

National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is an all India level talent search and scholarship program. NTSE eligibility criteria 2019 entitle only Class X Indian students from a recognized school to appear for the exam. NCERT motive behind NTSE is to identify budding academic talent in the country and grant scholarships to meritorious students.

Every year NCERT screens academically bright students through NTSE and approximately 1000 successful contenders are awarded scholarship in the form of a cash prize to acknowledge their academic aptitude and intelligence. NCERT give these scholarships to students for their mental and didactic calibre so all the eligible class X students are advised to register for NTSE.  The students qualify for receiving scholarships only after successfully clearing the two stages NTSE. It is an endeavour to encourage students to pursue higher education as all the qualifying students receive scholarships for continuing basic sciences courses up to doctoral level. With this financial aid, talented students get a chance to pursue courses of their choice and all the students of class X eagerly enrol for NTSE every year.
