Noida, 21st September- The refusal of accepting the doctorate degree by the Indian former skipper Sachin Tendulkar has led the authorities of Jadavpur University to bestow this honorary D Lit to the first Indian woman boxer Mary Kom. She has made our country proud many times and the honor will be given on December 24 at the time of 63rd Annual Convocation of Jadavpur University.
Suranjan Das, Vice Chancellor of Jadavpur University, informed the media about the doctorate honor to Sachin Tendulkar stating that the skipper has sent us a letter on mail mentioning the reason of his denial as Nitigoto (ethical).
Mr Das further added, “Sachin has denied the honor on ethical grounds. He has also denied taking the same honor from Oxford University. He doesn’t aspire to accept the degree from any university as he has not earned it.”
He also said that it would not be justifiable for him to accept the honor or degree unless he earns it.
The matter was intimated to the University Chancellor Keshari Nath Tripathi by JU officials and later on they have decided to give the same honor of D.Lit to the five-time World Amateur Boxing champion and Gold Medalist in Asian Games Mary Kom.
Mary Kom is the first woman boxer in India who has bagged Gold Medal in the asian games that were held in 2014 at South Korea. She has also won the Gold in Commonwealth Games of 2018.
