Nagpur’s Raisoni College joins the league of IIT-H by launching B.Tech in AI

After receiving the green signal from All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Nagpur-based GH Raisoni College of Engineering is all set to start B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence from the 2019-20 academic session.

With this, the college has become the second institution in India to offer B.Tech in AI after IIT Hyderabad. IIT-H had announced this program in January 2019 with the intake capacity of 20 seats and admissions will be granted on the basis of JEE Advanced.

While announcing the addition of this program, the GHRCE Director Preeti Bajaj said that Indian companies are investing a lot of resources and money on AI for the past two years. If compared to an average hike of 20-30% in different areas, the AI experts get the hike of 60-80% once they switch the job. A specialized engineering degree in AI will help in filling the gap within the industry.

AICTE approved the proposal of GHRCE with an intake capacity of 60 seats which is much higher than even IIT-H. The college has also set-up a Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning last year.

Bajaj also attributed the success to Sunil Raisoni who is the chairman of Raisoni Group of Institutions and Governing Body. According to Ms. Bajaj, he was the key person to understand the need of such a program and demand of the AI professionals globally.

The director bragged that the college has been contributing to innovation and technological advancements.

As per the NIRF Ranking 2019, GHRCE attained the 111th rank pan-India amongst the top engineering colleges. ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement) Ranking 2019 listed the college in top 100.

Also, NAAC ‘A+’ Accreditation testifies the level of education in GHRCE. GHRCE has been maintaining its position among top 5 patent filers for the three years in row.

Approval for establishing NIDHI- Technology Business Incubator by NSTEDB, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India is also a big achievement of GHRCE. It has become the first institute in Vidarbha to get title of NIDHI-TBI.

The institute has also received IEDC grant (Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Centre) by NSTEDB, DST.
