Kerala-Based NIOS Students will not be benefitted with Registration Date Extension, says Shashi Tharoor

Shashi Tharoor, Thiruvananthapuram MP and senior Congress leader, stated that t he students of NIOS or National Institute of Open Schooling in Kerala cannot get the benefit of the extension in registration date. He tweeted with a request to Prakash Javadekar, Union Human Resource Development Minister, to fix this issue.

Tharoor further said, “The students of NIOS from Kerala are unable to enjoy the benefit of extended registration date owing to the fact that all the study centers are occupied. With this, a large mass of students are affected in my constituency. HRD Ministry is being requested to take necessary measures and resolve the problem.

The step to extend the registration dates was taken after the disruptive situation of Kerala floods that has made devastated various lives. Following the Kerala floods, on October 1, National Institute of Open Schooling postponed the registration schedule for April-May 2019 examinations to October 15. Not only this, NIOS has also taken the initiative of late fee exemption in case of late submission of admission form. It has decided to take even offline admission forms.

On October 1, National Institute of Open Schooling or NIOS tweeted, “Due to the situation of devastating flood in Kerala State, NIOS has taken a move to exempt the clause of late fee in admission form submission and accept the Admission form offline. Apart from this, the students who have missed or damaged their documents of board examination in the floods will be given the same on the basis of request without levying any kind of charge.”

The examination dates for 10th and 12th standard have been announced officially by NIOS. The examination of class 12th will be scheduled on October 6 and that of class 10th will be on October 8. The examination of class 12th will be commenced on October 6 with Sanskrit subject and the examination of class 10th will begin on October 8 with the paper of Employability Skills.
