Noida: The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Vice Chancellor, M Jagdesh Kumar alleged on Monday that hundreds of students of the university forcefully entered his house. He claimed that students broke into his house and confined his wife inside his home for several hours.

The JNU Students Union (JNUSU) and police denied this. They further said that students went to his house for the planned “Meet the V-C March”.   The students from left outfits went to his house to demand a meeting with him since he had not been meeting them. The students went to meet him last week and he offered them with sweets rather than talking about the concern.

Seven students were on a hunger strike from a week against the entrance examination system that will be implemented from this academic year. The students were protesting since a week and V-C was not meeting them.

M Jagdesh Kumar wrote on twitted that” This evening few hundred students forcibly broke into my JNU residence and confined my wife inside home for several hours while I was away in a meeting. Is it the way to protest? Terrorizing a lonely lady at home?” After sometime he again tweeted that, “While last night’s violent behavior by students in front my JNU residence is condemnable, neither me nor my wife will file a police complaint against the students. We have forgiven them. Wish them the best and hope they will reform and not repeat such acts in future”.
