JEE Main 2019

Trade Union’s Strike to be held on 8th & 9th January can affect the candidates who have been allotted exam on these 2 days. The General Trade Union has already announced the general strike to take place on 8 & 9 January 2019 and on the same date JEE Main 2019 January exam has been scheduled by NTA which seem to collide.  The candidates who are going to appear in the exam in these 2 days can face a lot of problems. The 2 days General Trade Union’s Strike can hit around 9 lakh candidates who are appearing in the national level examination JEE Main 2019 on these 2 days.

The examination conducting body, NTA has not taken any decision regarding the exam on strike days yet. There have been no further updates regarding the issue as of now. Most coaching institutes, JEE Main aspirants and those who are connected with JEE Main 2019 are expecting for the postponement of the general strike that will continue for two days or change in the date of exam.

10 central Trade Unions namely CITU, INTUC, AITUC, HMS, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, UTUC, AIRF and NFIR had announced the general strike in September. According to NTA Director General Vineet Joshi, as of now, there is no plan to alter the exam schedule that has been announced. He said, “However, we will be holding a meeting to discuss the matter soon.”

Leaders of the trade union have said that they were unaware that the exam was going to be held on these dates. “This is a national strike that was announced quite early and no one had approached us with representations,” said INTUC State president R Chandrasekharan. He informed that it will not be possible now to postpone the dates.

How the General Strikes can affect candidates?

If the general strikes announced by the Trade Union takes place on 8 & 9 January 2019 can create problems to the candidates who have to appear in the JEE Main 2019 exam scheduled on these 2 days as the transport facilities including rail and road transport will be affected making it difficult for the candidates to reach the exam venue on time. If the issue not resolved, the candidates will have to face a lot of problems on the day of the JEE Main 2019. If the general strike happens on the same day as JEE Main 2019 exam dates, a big fiasco will be created as JEE Main dates have already been advanced.

Jayaprabha Pradeep, Principal of Gregorian Public School said “she was unaware of the issue but felt that there was very little the schools do about the issue. Just like other JEE Main aspirants and their parents, she hopes that the strike is postponed to some other dates”.
