ISB, IIM-Calcutta make it to top 3 in WSJ/THE Ranking 2019 for one-year MBA

NOIDA- Among the top five one-year MBA degree courses worldwide, India holds two spots as per the latest ranking released by Wall Street Journal and Times Higher Education. The Indian School of Business (ISB) and the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-Calcutta) have made their place in top 5 at 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. University of Hong Kong topped the chart.

ISB, Hyderabad has made the whole Indian management education proud by bagging the position of top b-school in India and ninth in the world. According to Rajendra Srivastava, dean, ISB, Hyderabad, the criteria and scale of THE for ranking an institution for one-year and two-year program remains the same. The overall weighted score of ISB helped it stand apart as the top Indian b-school and 9th in the world. These rankings by THE prove that one-year management program is no more popular only in Europe and Asia but professionals in USA have also started showing interest in this course. With one-year programs, students learn to use their skills sooner that too at a lower cost.

The rankings have been defined on the basis of 20 parameters including student outcome, pedagogy system, and student engagement activities conducted by 114 B-schools from 24 countries. The rankings also included a comparison between the one-year and two-year MBA program so that students can make a well-informed career choice. In the one-year MBA courses, Indian institutes shone whereas any of the Indian b-schools failed to make place in top 10 of the two-year MBA programs.

The USA is still the leader in management education 

The United States of America (USA) has sustained with its tag of being the prime choice for pursuing management education. Stanford Graduate School for Business bagged the top position for the two-year MBA programs. More to it, top nine b-schools in top 10 list were from the USA. Only The China Europe International Business School, Shanghai could make it to the top 10, that too at 10th spot. It means this Shanghai-based b-school is utmost choice outside the USA for 2-year MBA.

Among the top 54 two-year MBA programs, 44 spots have been occupies by American management institutions, which shows dominance of the USA in management education.
