NOIDA- On November 21, the HRD Ministry has set up an innovation cell at AICTE or All India Council of Technical Education with an objective to devise creative ideas for the promotion of innovation in various HEIs or higher education institutions spread all over the country. Prakash Javadekar, Union HRD Minister, has done the video conferencing at the headquarters of AICTE where he has launched the innovation cell.
Prakash Javadekar stated, “To initiate a kind of research and scientific environment in the country, launching the innovative cell will indeed be the most important move of HRD Ministry.
The major aim of formulating the Institution’s Innovation Councils (IICs) is to instill the sense of innovation and new ideas in the young students to make them get the exposure of various creative ideas and in their future years.”
He further quoted, “There are large number of HEIs, above 1,000, that have already established IICs in their campuses and also managed to enroll for the networking handled by the innovation cell of MHRD to increase the awareness about innovation through various ways. This has resulted into a kind of innovation promotion eco-system in their campuses.”
He also added that the universities are the major units for research in case of developed countries and due to the standard and level of research, they have attained top notch in global innovation ranking.
He quoted, “Today the universities of our country are quite passionate about establishing the research centers with the support of the IIC programme. With this step, our expectations to gain top positions in global innovation ranking in further two to three years are enhanced.”
