NOIDA– On Tuesday, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the government has a skill development scheme to be announced on Wednesday.

While heading a meeting with BJP party worked in Ahmedabad, HRD Minister said, “the skill-oriented courses are the key to employment. Tomorrow, I with Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will introduce a new skill development scheme. Over qualified people are applying for the post of sweepers and other class-4 positions. This is where we can see the lack of skills. To combat this problem, we are also planning to launch an apprenticeship programme which is to be introduced tomorrow.”

He also said that there are plans on which government is working to bring forth the statistics of mapped employment and a “right picture” will be made available for the public. This plan is structured by the government to crosscheck the junk stats provided by NSSO report that pegged unemployment at 6.1 per cent in 2017-18, which is ever high in the last 45 years

Defending the prime minister’s remark on selling pakodas against the criticism by Congress, Javadekar said, “Yes, it (selling pakoda) is employment. Instead of stealing and corruption, running a house honestly and earning self respect is employment.”
