NOIDA- Yogesh Tyagi, vice-chancellor of DU has made the declaration at the 95th convocation that the university will take various initiatives like establishment of the Delhi School of Public Policy and the Delhi School of Public Health, a Delhi University campus in Najafgarh and a hostel for foreign students.
He further stated, “We have made the process in action by setting up the Institute of Cyber Security and Law. This is the best achievement of the varsity for the year 2017-2018. The students who are in the first batch of the institute are also there in the convocation.”
He added that the selection was made on the grounds of the previous performance and upcoming plan of action of all the 113 applicant institutions. Delhi University is the only apex body that has been listed among one in the names of the eight public IoEs, however, the declaration is yet to be made.
The initial process pertaining to the set up of the Delhi School of Public Health and the Delhi School of Public Policy is undergoing, quoted by Prof Tyagi.
He also stated, “HRD Ministry has taken the initiative of launching this creative scheme with an aim to meet future academic leaders. This plan will explicitly make us to train the youths and nurture their minds with the support of the apex university in the world.”
He added that the German government and the university had indulged into a memorandum of understanding to extend their collaboration.
Professor stated that the varsity has put a special drive on board to allure the overseas students.
He added, “We are extending our cooperation with many embassies and also with ICCR or the Indian Council of Cultural Relations. With the support of ICCR, we are planning to set up a hostel for the overseas students with an aim to provide best accommodation facility to them.”
To quote various other moves taken by the university, making the plan to establish a hostel in support with CSR was the primary one.
At the time of convocation, the students were given 607 doctoral degrees, 168 medals, 39 DM/M Ch degrees and 36 prizes.
Once the convocation came to an end, the students of the Delhi School of Journalism have started raising the protests in front of the Arts Faculty stating their demands to provide the best amenities as promised by the university authorities.
ABVP members have also shown their agitation against the authorities and blamed them for unnecessary postponing the admission cancellation process of Akshay Kumar who is a NSUI leader. He is the culprit of providing false degree certificates this year and thus an FIR had been lodged.
