Digital India Award for 'Exemplary Online Service' goes to CBSE

NOIDA– On 22nd February, CBSE won the Digital India Award under “Exemplary Online Service” category. The Union Minister for Law and Justice, Electronics and IT, Dr Ravi Shankar Prasad conferred the award upon the national school education regulator. On behalf of Central Board of Secondary Education, Chairperson, Anita Karwal, the IT team of CBSE received the award.

The digital initiatives taken by CBSE recently enabled the board to win this award.

Centre Locator App, Digi-locker, tracking & monitoring system for confidential materials powered by geo-tagging, etc. are few of the major initiatives by CBSE. More to it, the board frequently furnishes the educational materials, important information, and results on its main as well as affiliate websites.

As per the event organizers, the ICT based services by the state/ central government departments, showcasing citizen reach, focus, innovation and scope in approach make them eligible for nomination in this award category. The services should be aimed at enlargement in productivity & efficiency as well as imparting accountability and flexibility in the governance process.

The entries are done on the basis of the departmental services that displayed the maturity and offered a convenient access of services to the citizens. Digi-locker and digital payment modes will be assessed on the parameters like integration and e-authentication. The participation of public for decision making is also a crucial factor.

The latest advancements in the field of technology have also influenced the categories over the years. In the 5th edition, the major categories are- Best Mobile App, Emerging Technology, Exemplary Online Service, Web Ratna- Ministry/ Department, Web Ratna-  State/ UT, Web Ratna- District, Open Data Champion, and Outstanding Digital Initiative.

Ministries regulated by central government, state government departments, district administration, offices, institutions, Indian missions in abroad can apply for Digital India Award. A project is eligible to be nominated in multiple categories.
