AU Suspends 5 B.Tech 2nd year Students for Troubling the Juniors

AU has suspended 5 B.Tech 2nd year students for troubling the juniors. Authorities of Allahabad University (AU) have issued a show cause notice to 5 B.Tech Students of Dr SRK hostel at Allahabad University and have suspended their enrollment till the next orders. These suspended students have been charged to create problems for the junior inmates of their hostel in the name of taking ‘intro’ (introduction) which comes under the ambit of ragging. The suspended students are 2nd year B.Tech students of the department of electronics and communication (JK Institute).

Earlier, hostel warden, Prof J A Ansari had written a letter to the AU proctor, Professor R S Dubey regarding the trouble created by these students to their junior inmates. Following the letter, AU proctor, Prof R S Dubey has issued the show cause letter to these students. The suspended students will have to report to their office on 11 September 2018 with their parents. The suspended students will have to explain as to why corrective action should not be taken against them and why they should not be permanently expelled from Allahabad University on charges of ragging their junior inmates.

Professor Ansari said “One of the parent reported the matter and after conducting a detail inquiry, I found out that five students of BTech-II including Anurag Amrit, Anurag Mishra,  Ashish Kataria, Manvendra Rai and Siddhant Kumar were troubling their junior and unnecessarily harassing him”. He also added I spoke to parents of the senior inmates and have written to proctor with the recommendation of taking suitable action.
“In the notice served to them we have pointed out that these acts come under the purview of ragging which is illegal and banned. They have been asked to report at the proctor’s office along with their parents on Tuesday and submit their explanations both verbally and in writing as to why they should not be expelled for their actions” AU proctor R S Dubey said.
