Noida, 20th September– Ankiv Baisoya, the newly-appointed Delhi University Students’ Union president stated that he has been in Thiruvalluvar University Vellore, Tamil Nadu from the year 2013 to 2016 and studied various subjects. However, he is not able to remember the heads of department in the university and also the subjects in Bachelor of Arts programme.

Mr Baisoya who is the member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-affiliate, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, has taken the admission in DU’s PG course of Buddhist Studies by submitting the mark sheets and certificates of Thiruvalluvar University Vellore from where he has claimed to undergo graduation in 2016.

On the other side, the National Students Union of India stated that it had the documents that were submitted by Baisoya to the university and the examination controller had announced them to be false. NSUI had also provided the images of these certificates and mark sheets and quoted them as fake.

Mr Baisoya, however, blamed the NSUI for creating unnecessary mess over the issue of documents. He further added, “As their planning of creating controversy on EVMs that were used during DU students’ union elections did not respond well, they are raising another issue of fake documentation. I am all in to give my consensus for re-verification of the documents and will equally support.”

Ruchi Gupta, the Congress member of NSUI also reacted on the issue saying, “It is obligatory on DU management to get into the insight of the matter and find the truth. In case, the certificates will be proved forged, they must expel Mr Ankiv Baisoya.” The student leaders from the Left group popped up the issue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s DU Post Graduation degree which is also under the questionable state.

The Parishad leaders further stated, “I have been attending call from media people since morning but nobody from the university has contacted me and said your degree is false.”

The head of Buddhist Studies department, KTS Sarao stated, “The degrees will be put under scrutiny when we get the complaint against them. There is a separate department in the university which takes the onus of doing this. Till now, nobody has lodged the complaint.” However, NSUI later declared that one complaint would be filed against Baisoya in the university and another one would be the police complaint.
