Allahabad University witnesses Violence over Student Union Poll Result

Noida 7th October 2018: The declaration of student union poll result was not pleasant at Allahabad University as the voidance erupted at campus on Friday after the result announcement.

The epicentre of the violence was Holland Hall Hostel reportedly where the conflict between protesters and student union leaders turned into a massive fight. Documents, furniture and clothes were put to fire. Flames of fire were immediately doused by cops and fire tenders as they came in action with no delay. Police personnel did well to get back the things in the state of normalcy.

The election result was quite disheartening for Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) as the Samajwadi Party lead student wing Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha (SCS) and national congress led National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) outshone and swept all the major seats.

Students of Allahabad University locked Samajwadi Party’s Uday Prakash Yadav as their choice for president where Avaneesh Yadav was elected as the Vice President of Allahabad University.

According to the police officials, no major injuries were reported in the clash of between the students and things are now back to normalcy. Police denied when asked if any student was booked in the custody while the whole incident.

The statement from police added, “out of immaturity and the anger-driven age, students often commit such mistake and they need to be just counselled to avoid such bad incident. Victory and loss are part of any contest- be it a sport or election. They should be sporting enough to accept the defeat or victory in a pleasant way.”

Everything is well if it ends well. And now Allahabad University has adorned peace again and no further such clashes have been reported till now. The management has urged all the students to cooperate in maintaining the peace within the university premises.
