Accident in US takes life of GITAM University founder

Noida 3rd October 2018: Ex MP MVVS Murthy with two other companions from Visakhapatnam met with a road accident in Alaska, the USA in the wee hours around at 4:30 am (IST) on Wednesday. All of the victims are declared dead.

Murthy, a popular leader, was also known as Goldspot Murthy. He was a prominent industrialist and founded the leading institution named Gandhi Institute of Technology And Management (GITAM) University in Visakhapatnam.

As per his relatives, he was coming from California and his vehicle collided with a truck moving from the opposite direction. Both the vehicles were in speed and collided head to head with each other.

According to the coverage by Anchorage Daily News based in Anchorage, Alaska, the accident took place on the Parks Highway and there were four causalities and few were injured.

The newspaper report also said, “Four men killed after the chauffeur of 2017 Dodge van tried to overtake a commercial vehicle in Cantwell no-passenger zone and as a result, the van collided head to head with a 2007 Ford-F pickup moving from the opposite direction. One child has been severely injured in this accident.”

The other two companions of Murhty were identified as VBR Chowdary and Velivolu Basavapunnaiah.

Another person Kadiayala Venkataratnam, who was also in the car, was immediately taken to the nearest hospital by air ambulance. He is admitted in ICU and is said to be struggling for his breathe.

The purpose of Murhty for going to US along with the alumni of GITAM University was to participate in an interaction session scheduled to be held on October 6 in California.

Members of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) have been supporting the families of the victims by fulfilling the documentation to bring their bodies back to their native places.

Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu stated in his condolence message that it is an irreparable loss and the disheartening news left him in shock.
