18-Year old IIT aspirant found dead in a canal

Noida On October 16, the police reported that the body was floating in a canal at Degod town which was later identified to be of an 18-year-old IIT aspirant who was missing for last four days from the hostel of the coaching centre.

The police in charge at Degod, Narayan Singh Hada informed that the incident took place on October 15 in which the body of the IIT aspirant, Sidharth Pal was found in the canal at Degod.

Sidharth Pal who was the son of a resident of Aamtal police station area in Dhanbad district, Pawan Chand Pal was doing preparations of the IIT entrance test, Mr Hada furthr added.

He added that Pal had been preparing for IIT from the coaching institute in Kota since April 2018 and had taken the accommodation at a private hostel in Vigyan Nagar.

Neeraj Gupta, Vigyan Nagar police station SHO quoted that on October 13, Sidharth Pal, the student of class 11 was not there in the hostel and declared as missing. After this, the missing person report was registered by the hostel caretaker at the nearest police station.

The police had made efforts to find out his whereabouts, but all their attempts were in vain.

Mr Gupta further stated that Sidharth Pal was not doing good in his preparations as confirmed from the coaching centre and was also irregular in attending classes.

It has been confirmed from the sources that Sidharth Pal had last talked to his father on Saturday evening and later his mobile had gone off. The SHO added that his father got the clear indication of his son’s mental state as he was not sounding well on phone and seemed very much depressed.

Neeraj Gupta quoted that the pressure of studies and peers’ might have compelled him to take this bold step. He also said that there was no suicide note found with the deceased.

He informed that the body of the youth was given to the MBS Hospital mortuary for post-mortem report and this would be commenced once his parents come from Jharkhand.
