MICAT 2018 – Application Form, Registration Process

MICAT 2018 Application Form for Part 1 and Part 2 will be available from the 4th week of September 2017 and closes by the 4th week of November 2017. The test dates for the same will from 2nd week of December 2017 for MICAT 1 and 2nd week of February 2018 for MICAT 2. So another entrance test! The MICAT 2018 or MICA Admission Test 2018 is an MBA entrance exam conducted by Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), Ahmedabad. The exam is designed to test a candidate’s aptitude and orientation towards communication as a profession. Candidates who have applied to the B-School through CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, ATMA or GMAT can only apply for MICAT. The candidate will be called for MICAT, subject to his application accepted by MICA. MICAT 2018 is a mix of the objective and subjective exam.

MICA offers a wide-range of academic programmes such as Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Communications (PGDM-C) with specializations in Brand Management, Digital Communication Management, Media Management, Marketing Research, and Advertising Management, Post Graduate Programme (PGP), Crafting Creative Communications (CCC) and the Fellow Programme in Management-Communications (FPM-C).

The maximum students for PGDM (C) is 180 students

The next step after checking out the eligibility is to fill in the MICAT Registration Form. In order to apply at MICA, you will need to apply online. The MICAT 2018 fee is Rs. 1875 (approx.) that can be paid through any of the following modes of payment.

  1. Online Payment via MASTER / VISA Credit Card
  2. You can pay via a Demand Draft of Rs. 1875/- from any Bank in favour of “MICA” payable at Ahmedabad. Mode of Payment should be DD in “Make Payment” Tab and click “Submit”. Take a print of the payment advice form, sign and send it along with the DD to MICA, Ahmedabad.
  3. Counter Payment – You can also go to the payment counters, which are available across various cities and make payment in cash.

It is better to know the eligibility prior to applying for the examination, we have listed the complete MICAT Eligibility Criteria here:

  • Candidates should be graduates having a minimum of 50% score aggregate in any discipline.
  • The candidates then need to apply through CAT, GMAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT or ATMA scores.
  • The candidates after successfully performing in CAT or any of the above-mentioned exams can then apply for MICA subject to MICA accepting the application. The next round is the Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI) which the candidates need to appear basis their performance in the MICAT.

MICAT Exam Pattern 2017

MICAT Exam Pattern & Syllabus 

The paper pattern helps you understand the exam better and score well. The MICAT Exam Pattern is generally as follows.  But please note that Duration of exam and number of questions changes every year.

The questionnaire of MICAT will be objective and subjective. The test is taken offline and you will need to mark one answer as the correct one. The time period of the test is 125 minutes.

The exam is divided into two sections:

Section A is subjective and there will be 4 questions related to divergent thinking and creative potential. The questions will be on writing argument, story & essay writing. Time allotted to this section is 35 minutes.

Section B will have 3 parts. The 3 parts will be psychometric test, reasoning and verbal ability, general knowledge section. Time allotted to this section is 90 minutes.

The number of questions: There will be a total of 94 questions.

Section A will have 4 questions. In section B, part 1 psychometric test will have 30 questions, part 2 reasoning and verbal ability will have 35 questions and part 3, and general awareness will have 25 questions.

Marking Scheme

MICA has not declared total marks yet. Section A has no negative marking but section B has 25% negative marking if chosen a wrong answer hence it is advisable that you do think twice and be careful as to which answer you select.

While the exact syllabus is not unknown, some topics for each section that are normally asked are mentioned as below.

Reasoning

The topics covered under this section include Word Association, Data Sufficiency and Statement Conclusion & Visual Reasoning. It consists of 35 multiple choice questions and you need to choose one correct answer.

General Awareness

This section contains questions related to general knowledge, marketing and media advertising, & general global awareness. It consists of 25 questions with 4 answer options for every question and you need to choose one correct answer.

Writing Ability

Here, questions will be asked to write for and on a topic given. Having said that, you must either support or oppose the motion with logical reasoning and if a neutral stand is taken, it means that one would not be marked for the essay writing. The next question in this section will be about story writing. On the basis of pictures given in the question, you have to write a story.

Psychometric Test

A Psychometric Test and the duration is 30 minutes. This is to assess if you are suitable for careers in Strategic Marketing and Communication.

Based on the MICAT performance only, you are further shortlisted for the Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI).

Your performance in Group Exercise (GE) indicates your personality, clarity of thought and ability to work in a team or not. The PI indicates your knowledge, determination, maturity and fits into MICA & its industries’ culture it caters to.

  1. I want to know,in section A where there is a writing argument which says we have to write for ,against the topic and our actual point do we have to write like

    if our views is for “for the statement” we will just fill the for topic and our views section and the against portion will be blank

    Or

    We have to fill all the three sections irrespective of our view is for or against?
