Karnataka Management Aptitude Test, broadly known as the KMAT 2017, is an all India level management entrance test that arose from the need to have a single unified test for admissions to professional courses like MBA, PGDM and MCA in the Karnataka state.
The Karnataka Private Post Graduate College’s Association (KPPGCA) announced on 29th January 2003 –aims at arranging for active support to professional education and facilitate and streamline admission to postgraduate professional courses. The KPPGCA has 169 fellow institutions situated across Karnataka which are tied up to respective universities within the state.
This exam is held by the Karnataka Private Postgraduate College Association, for those wanting seats in the management quota. Lets first get a summary of the examination!

KMAT Exam Eligibility Criteria
Make sure to go through the KMAT Eligibility Criteria prior to applying.
For the MBA individuals: You need to have completed any 3 year bachelor’s degree after 10+2 from a recognized university with a minimum 50% marks in of their subjects including languages.
For the MCA individuals: You need a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks and mandatory need to have studied Mathematics at 10+2 stage or as major while at the graduation level.

You may apply for only one course MBA OR MCA and pay the required fees. If you wish to apply for both; the MBA and MCA courses must register for each course separately.
Step 1: The KMAT 2017 application form is accessible on kmatindia.com.
Step 2: You must enter your name as mentioned in their respective school leaving certificate, date of birth, updated postal /contact address and gender.You also need to include the education study field you have graduated from. Finally, correctly confirm whether you are a Karnataka native or not.
Step 3: You can define your suitable test centre. Remember the centre must be selected wisely as the same cannot be changed at a later date.
Step 4: Highlight the courses as per choice – MBA OR MCA, either both the courses and only one.
KMAT 2017 Application Fees Payment
A demand draft [DD] made in favour of KMAT and payable at Bangalore is a prerequisite.
- Those of you who are applying for either MBA or MCA have to prepare a DD of Rs. 700/-
- Individuals taking both the tests- the MBA and MCA test would have to register for each test individually. They will receive two distinct hall tickets for the tests. The DD for Rs. 800/- towards the test fee has to be made.

KMAT Exam Pattern
Knowing the KMAT Exam Pattern can help you in being better prepared. The KMAT 2017 Exam is an objective type, multiple choice question based paper, and this test has to be completed within 2 hour duration. There is one test for the MBA individuals and one test for the MCA individuals.
The KMAT 2017 MBA paper construct is: Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, and Basic Aptitude. There are 40 questions in each section.
The KMAT 2017 MCA paper is based on the following: 40 marks per segment, the segments will cover topics on Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills and Logical Reasoning.
- Devote personal study time to each subject / topic.
- Refresh basic Mathematical Concepts by going through previous Math tests, and reviewing particular study material. Puzzles / quizzes help advance reasoning and analytical skills.
- Participate in surprise mock tests to evaluate the time taken to solve each section and increase your speed and accuracy.
All B-School across the state of Karnataka consider the KMAT Score as an admission pointer based on the Score Cards issued to the applicants. KMAT is akin to a passport across the state of Karnataka and is considered by 169 B-Schools
