Stages of CSIR UGC NET Selection Procedure 2019
The five basic stages of selection procedure are mentioned below with the criteria of eligibility to qualify that stage.
Stage 1: Submission of Application Form
The only way to appear for the NET is to get enrolled in the selection procedure, by filling up and submitting the Application Form in the scheduled duration. Candidates must be qualified as per the CSIR eligibility criteria in order to get enrolled in the recruitment procedure. Aspirants are advised to check the eligibility criteria before filling the application form. After filling the form and uploading the scanned documents, the application fees payment is mandatory in order to complete the Application Procedure. Delay in payment or submission of application form means the candidate will not be allowed to appear for the NET. Only those candidates will receive the Admit Card, to appear for the next stage of the selection procedure, which successfully complete the Application Procedure.
Stage 2: Paper Based Test
After getting enrolled in the selection procedure, the next step is to qualify the written exam of total 200 marks. The exam is of 3-hour duration. The exam will be a Multiple Choice Question test divided into three parts:
Part-A consists of questions that are common for all candidates, The questions will be on topics namely reasoning ability, comprehension, general awareness general science and research aptitude, and divergent thought process.
Part-B consist of questions from different fields of science in accordance with the choice opted by the applicant,
Part-C consists of higher value questions that evaluate the candidates’ knowledge of scientific concepts and the application of scientific concepts.
In the next stage, the name of the candidates who qualify this written exam will be announced on the merit list.
Stage 3: Selection in the Merit List
In this stage, the merit lists for both the designations namely JRF and LS is announced. On basis of the CSIR selection procedure, the 6% candidates who topped the merit list according to their performance in the written exam will be called for the next stage.
Stage 4: Personal Interview
For the fourth stage, top 6% candidates of the merit list are called for the personal interview where the candidates will get evaluated on the basis of their academic records and the project/published work that is assessed by the higher committee. It is solely CSIR that reserves right to call or not call a candidate for the interview.
Stage 5: Shortlisted Candidates
In the last stage, the candidates will receive a placement letter of the job in a national laboratory, university, or any institution of higher learning and research. The candidates will receive the fellowship from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research or University Grant Commission in accordance with the assignments or schemes. In case of the candidates who qualify eligible for the fellowship or lectureship under UGC scheme, they will be assessed on the basis of the regulations of University Grant Commission.
