CDS Eligibility Criteria 2019-   Combined Defense Services or CDS is an examination which offers seats in armed forces of the country. The eligibility criteria for CDS 2019 have been released by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). The eligibility criteria consist of age, nationality and educational qualification.  As per the CDS Eligibility Criteria 2019, candidates should be in between 20 to 24 years of age group. The candidates must have a graduation degree. However, the final year students are also eligible for the exam; they have to submit a relevant certificate stating that they have completed all the requirements for the graduation. They have to submit the same at the time of examination. CDS 1 will be conducted on February 3, 2019, and CDS 2 is scheduled for 8th September 2019. CDS Eligibility Criteria 2019- Highlights

The following are the highlights of CDS Eligibility Criteria 2019.

  • Nationality- The candidates applying for CDS 1 should be Citizen of India. However, candidates from Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and citizens of East African countries like Kenya, Uganda, etc. are also eligible and need to fulfil all requirements of eligibility criteria set by the government of India.

    CDS Eligibility Criteria 2019- Physical Test Standards

    The candidates can check the physical standards set by the conducting body to get clarity about their eligibility for CDS 2019.

    • The candidates must be physically fit as per the standards set by UPSC.
    • There should not be any signs of body defects or overweight.
    • The candidates must have good physical health and free from disease or disability.
    • The minimum acceptable height for male candidates is 157.5 cm for Indian Army, 157 cms for Navy, and 162.5 cms for Air Force.
    • Candidates from Gorkhas and the northeastern region will have relaxation of 5 cms in height and applicants from Lakshadweep have 3 cms height relaxation.
    • Candidates should have sufficient teeth. Minimum 14 dental points are acceptable. With total 32 teeth are present, candidates will have total dental points 22. 
    • For women candidates, if pregnancy is detected at any of stage of the selection procedure. Candidates will grant commission and cost recovered from the date of joining OTA till the date of debarring on the confirmation from military hospital authorities.
    • Internal eye testing will be conducted with the help of Ophthalmoscope to rule any disease of the eye. A candidate must have good binocular vision. For army CP 2, candidates must be able to recognize colours, especially blue and green colour.

    CDS Eligibility Criteria 2019- Important Points

    The following are some important points which should be kept in mind before filling the application form.

    • The age of the candidates will be recorded as per their Secondary School Examination.
    • For IMA, candidates born not earlier than 2 January 1996 and not later than July 2001 are eligible.
    • For Navy Officers, candidates born not earlier than 2 January 1996 and not later than July 1, 2001, are eligible.
    • For Air force Academy, candidates born not earlier than 2 January 1996 and not later than July 1, 2000, are eligible.
    • To be eligible for Training Academy courses, candidates born not earlier than 2 January 1995 and not later than July 1, 2000, are eligible.
    • The candidates who are going to appear for the last semester of the graduation are also eligible to apply for the examination. They should not have any back and need to submit the certificate from the college or university.

    CDS Eligibility Criteria 2019- Application form

    The application form for CDS 1 2019 had been released on 31st October 2018. The last date to submit the application form for CDS 2019 was November 2018. The application form consisted of two parts. In Part 1, candidates have to enter the all basic information name, date of birth, etc. and In Part 2, candidates have to upload all the necessary documents like photograph, signature, and thumb impression. Along with these documents, candidates have to upload one ID proof- Aadhar card, Voter ID, Driving License, Passport, etc.
