Airport Authority of India came into existence on April 1, 1995. It is constituted by Act of Parliament. Later on the two, The National Airport Authority and International Airport authority got merged into a single body i.e. AAI. It is responsible for creating, maintaining, upgrading the civil aviation infrastructure both on land and space in the country.
