The Joint Entrance Exam main or JEE Main 2018 as it’s commonly known, is scheduled to be held the on the 8th, 15thand 16th of April. It is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The JEE Main 2018 is a national level gateway exam for gaining entry to IITs, NITs and CFTIs. Around 12 Lakh students appear for the JEE Main 2018 every year. Candidates who wish to appear for the JEE Main 2018 often have multiple queries regarding the exam. Here are some JEE Main 2018 FAQs and their answers.

Q1. From which date is the JEE Main 2018 application form made available?

    Ans: The application form of JEE Main 2018 was made available on the online platform from the 1st of December, 2017 until January 1st, 2018.

    Q2. When will the JEE Main 2018 be conducted?

    Ans: The JEE Main 2018 will be conducted both online and offline. The offline exam will be conducted on the 8th of April, 2018 and the online test on the 15th and 16th of April 2018.

    Q3. How do I correct the mistakes I made while filling out the online application form? What is the last date for making the corrections?

    Ans: The CBSE allowed correction of mistakes through the application correction facility from January the 9th to the 22nd of January, 2018.

    Q4. The scanned copies of which documents should I upload while filling out the JEE Main 2018 application form and in what format?

    Ans: The scanned copies of the candidate’s passport photograph, signature and their father, mother or guardian’s signature are required to be uploaded along with the JEE Main 2018 application form. All the uploads have to be in jpg format.

    Q5. Is Adhaar Card number obligatory for appearing in the JEE Main 2018?

    Ans: Yes. The candidate needs to have a genuine Adhaar Card number in order to apply for the JEE Main 2018. Without Adhaar number the application will not be accepted.

    Q6. What to do if the Adhaar details and the information on my documents do not match?

    Ans: If the candidates’ details in their documents do not match their Adhaar Card then the candidates will have to submit a correction request at Adhaar centre and apply for JEE Main 2018 by submitting their 14 digits Adhaar Enrolment ID / UR No.

    Q7. Are candidates from certain states allowed to apply without an Adhaar Card number?

    Ans. The candidates belonging to Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Meghalaya do not have to submit their Adhaar Card number at the time of application. However, these candidates will have to enter their passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Government ID number at the time of filling out the application form of the JEE Main 2018.

    Q8. Is slot booking available for the online exam of JEE Main 2018?

    Ans: Yes. The candidates who opt for the computer-based test of JEE Main 2018 will be able to select their preferred slot after they complete the application fee payment.

    Q9. When will the JEE Main 2018 admit card be available?

    Ans: The admit card of JEE Main 2018 was released on the 12th of March 2018 and made available to all registered candidates.

    Q10. When will the JEE Main 2018 result be declared?

    Ans: The result of JEE Main 2018 Paper I will be declared on the online platform by the CBSE on the 30th of April, 2018 and Paper-II on the 31st of May, 2018.

    Q11. Who conducts the JEE Main 2018 Counseling sessions?

    Ans: The JEE Main 2018 counselling sessions are conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for candidates who have qualified the exam.

    Q12. Which are the participating institutes in JEE Main 2018?

    Ans: Candidates who have qualified the JEE Main 2018 will be able to apply for admissions into 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 23 CFTIs all over India.

    Q13. What is the Eligibility Criteria for applying for JEE Main 2018?

     Ans: The eligibility criteria for the JEE Main 2018:

    • Date of Birth should be on or after October 01, 1993. For SC/ST candidates, the date of birth should be on or after October 01, 1988
    • Candidates must have passed their Class 12th Exam or equivalent in 2016 or 2017. Those appearing for their Class 12th Exam or equivalent in 2018 are also eligible.
    • Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12 qualifying exam. They must have studied Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject along with two other subjects.
    • Candidate can attempt the JEE Main 2018 a maximum of three times.

    Q14. What are the eligibility criteria for applying to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs?

    Ans: The candidates should have at least 75% marks (65% for SC/ST category) or be in the top 20 percentile in 12th (or equivalent) board exam. 

    Q15. I am dyslexic. Will I fall under PwD?

    Ans: Yes. Dyslexia candidates fall under PwD category. The following certificates have to be submitted by the candidates for admissions under this category:

    • Application for obtaining disability certificate by Persons with Disabilities
    • Disability Certificate
    • Category Certificate

    Q 16. What is the qualifying cutoff marks for JEE Main 2018?

    Ans: The qualifying marks for JEE Main changes every year.
