IIT JEE Summary of Joint Seat Allocation 2015 Round 4

The round 4 of the counseling session conducted via the JoSAA for the admission to IIT JEE have been completed and the results of the same have also been released.

Summary of JoSAA Round 4

The summary of the joint seat allocation after the completion of round 4 is as follows:

  • A total of 33,908 candidates were allotted seats in Round 3 of Joint Seat Allocation 2015 for a total of 87 institutes comprising of 18 IITs, ISM, 31 NITs, 18 IIITs and 18 Other-GFTIs. Of these, 31, 232 candidates have accepted the allotted seats which are inclusive of 30,181 candidates who accepted the seats in Rounds 1 and 2. This has resulted in an overall vacancy of 2,676 seats at the termination of Round 3 of JoSAA 2015 which were then allotted in the current Round 4 via the NIC and IIT Kanpur implementations of the DA algorithm based on the filled-in choices by the candidates prior to Round 1 and their category wise all India ranks in JEE ( Main) 2015 Paper-1, JEE (Main) 2015 Paper-2 and JEE (Advanced) 2015.


  • The Round 4 allotment output via the NIC and IIT Kanpur implementations have matched with each other and in addition these allocations were validated for compliance of all the business rules via the testing+validation teams from IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Guwahati and it was found that the allocations comply with all the business rules.
