GATE Examination has undergone some changes after 2014, the score for exam would be acceptable for next 3 years and also pattern has undergone some changes. GATE 2017 Application Form begins in the month of September; hence applicants can start registering before the last date arrives. Candidates are advised to go through the prospectus and then apply as this will help them to understand more about GATE. Application for GATE is online and no hard copies are accepted under any circumstances. Candidate while applying will first need to input very few personal details like email id, mobile no etc; on the same email candidate will be provided with an enrollment no. which can be used for next login an filling the form and then the whole form is to be filled.
Application procedure and details regarding payment of application fees is given below:
Step 1: Keep following things ready for application
As mentioned below in the table candidate must keep these things ready, which will reduce their time in filling the form. This is as stated by conducting authority.

* Supporting documents includes:
- Scanned Documents of Degree Certificate / Course Completion Certificate/ Provisional Certificate ie scanned image of bachelors or equivalent degree.
- Candidates who are about to complete their graduation must upload a scanned certificate which should be attested by principal
- Category Certificate if applicable
- Pwd Certificate if applicable
Once you are ready with all the documents above you can easily proceed further for admission
Step 2: Register Yourself for GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System)
Candidate should visit the website “gate.iitk.ac.in”, wherein link would be provided for registration. At very first you are suppose to give your valid email id, phone no. and need to choose a password which is in use for further login. Now you an enrollment no would be send to you on your mail box; note it and then use it for login with the password. After this you will be logged in and then you have fill all the basic details.
Step 3: Fill all your basic details
Here candidate will have to fill all the details pertaining to their academics, nationality etc. you are suppose to fill details like personal mobile number, gender, parent’s name, parent’s mobile number, Natonality, Category etc. here candidate should also choose the paper for which he/she is opting for GATE. Also at this stage candidate should upload all his documents note all the documents as stated above also one Photo ID proof is mandatory which can be Notarized Affidavit with Photo, Driving License, Aadhaar UID, College ID, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Employee Identification Card, , Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address
Step 4: Payment of Fees
Now once all the uploading and other sections are done candidate should proceed for payment of application fees. Payment is done only by EPG (Electronic Payment Gateway), using any cards, net banking or Challan facility available. Application Fees differ from category and those candidates availing the benefits must produce documents for same. Application Fees is generally 1500 INR for general candidate students. Step 5: Confirm & Submit
Candidate after paying the fees can once go through the details and then finally click on “Confirm & Submit” button. After submitting no changes or editing is possible. Also “no need for sending document to GATE institute”
