- There will be a section called Section A which will be having questions from Engineering Mathematics and this is a compulsory section. There will be a total of 11 questions asked and from these 11 questions 7 will be of 1 mark each and other 4 will be of 2 marks each. This is a compulsory common section for every candidate.
- Questions from any two of XE sections from B to H will be asked. These will be 22 questions and out of these 22 questions 9 will be of 1 mark each and other 13 will be of 2 marks each.

- There will be a section called Section P which will be having questions from Chemistry and this is a compulsory section. GATE 2018 Answer Key
The Answer Key of GATE 2018 will be released after the commencement of examination. According to the official notification, it is expected that the GATE 2018 examination will be commenced at the end of 2nd Week of February 2018. The authority of GATE will publish the answer key for each discipline separately. Candidates will be able to challenge the answer key also, there will be some fee applicable to do so.
GATE 2018 Result (17th March, 2018)
The result of GATE 2018 will be published in online mode at the official portal of GOAPS of GATE web page. It is expected that the GATE 2018 result will be published on 17th March of 2018. The authority of GATE will provide the Score Cards for the same. The score cards will be available for those candidates who secure equal or more than the cut-off marks in GATE 2018.
GATE 2018 Score Card
All the candidates who are getting qualified in GATE 2018 with equal or more than the cut-off marks will be provided with a Score Card from the official GATE authority. These score cards will be valid up to three years from the announcement of result. Each score card will show the performance of the respective candidate in GATE test. It is expected that the facility to download the GATE 2018 score card will be available from the 17th March 2018.
GATE 2018 Cut Off
The cut off marks show the qualification of candidates in GATE and their eligibility for getting an admission into IITs/ IISc. The cut-off mark decides that whether the applicant has qualified in the examination or not. The cut off of GATE 2018 will be different on the basis of stream and category wise. Candidates who belong to reserved category will be rewarded with the primarily low score than unreserved category candidates.
GATE 2018 Counselling
There will be no common counseling for the candidates who are interested in joining at IITs/ IISc. Applicants who have qualified in GATE and seeking an admission in IITs/ IISc must apply individually for IITs. Aspirants will be able to apply after the announcement of notification. There will be centralized counseling for M. Tech/ M. Arch/ M. Plan (CCMT) programs in NITs. The NITs conducts the counseling process each year on the basis of GATE 2018 scores.

GATE 2018 Registration Online
All the applicants will be able to register for GATE 2018 through online mode. There is no other way to register themselves for GATE 2018. The following details show some facts on GATE 2018 Registering. Aspirants will be able to apply for GATE 2018. The application form of GATE 2018 can be filled through GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System). According to the official information, the process of online application for GATE will begin from the 1st September of 2017. The process of online application will last up to 5th October of 2017. All the applicants have to enter their personal and educational details accurately. There will be some specified format for uploading the scanned images of photograph, signature, and left thumb impression. Aspirants have to keep their GOAPS Enrolment ID and Password very safely.
All the applicants have to register themselves as a New User. Then only they will be getting access for GOAPS. After getting access for GOAPS, applicants will be able to log in themselves by their GOAPS Enrolment ID and GOAPS Password. Aspirants will be asked to upload their scanned photograph, signature, thumb impression, degree certificate, and category certificate in the prescribed format. International Candidates who are interested in applying for GATE will be also eligible to apply. GATE 2018 will be conducted in some other countries also. These countries are Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and UAE (United Arab Emirates). The process of application film will be same for International Candidates as how it is for Indians. Each International candidates who are applying for GATE must have a valid passport.
The application fee will be very different as per the category and gender of the candidate. All the applicants who belong to the following category and gender must have to pay rupees 750 as Application Fee; the categories are SC/ ST/ PwD/ Female Candidates. Aspirants belong to any other category (General/ OBC/ Male Candidates) have to pay rupees 1500 as the Application Fee. Candidates who are international have to pay US$ 50 as their Application Fee. GATE 2018 Correction on Application Form
All the applicants will be able to do correction on GATE application form. The corrections can be done for minor modifications only. Only the candidates who have submitted their application can go for correction process. If any candidate has done any mistake in their Application Form, then the respective candidate has to send an email to the GATE authority which subjecting ‘Correction in Data (Enrollment Number)’ along with the Document Proof. GATE 2018 Exam Pattern

GATE 2018 Eligibility Criteria

GATE 2018 – Virtual Calculator
The GATE 2018 virtual calculator is the online calculator which will be provided for candidates while appearing in the examination. Applicants will be able to do all the operations and functions in this virtual calculator. This virtual calculator will be provided during online exam only. No applicants will be getting a physical calculator in the examination. The physical calculators are prohibited inside the exam hall.
