GATE 2018 is one of the most important engineering entrance tests in the field to get admission in PG level engineering programs. GATE means Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. The GATE exam is commonly conducted as a national level entrance examination. Candidates who all are appearing in GATE will be getting admission into PG courses of engineering and technology. The GATE is being organized and commenced each year by seven zonal IITs and an IISc on a rotational basis.

GATE Online Registration 2018

All the applicants will be able to register for GATE 2018 through online mode. There is no other way to register themselves for GATE 2018. The following details show some facts on GATE 2018 Registering. Aspirants will be able to apply for GATE 2018. The application form of GATE 2018 can be filled through GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System). According to the official information, the process of online application for GATE will begin from the 1st September of 2017. The process of online application will last up to 5th October of 2017. All the applicants have to enter their personal and educational details accurately. There will be some specified format for uploading the scanned images of photograph, signature, and left thumb impression. Aspirants have to keep their GOAPS Enrolment ID and Password very safely.

All the applicants have to register themselves as a New User. Then only they will be getting access for GOAPS. After getting access for GOAPS, applicants will be able to log in themselves by their GOAPS Enrolment ID and GOAPS Password. Aspirants will be asked to upload their scanned photograph, signature, thumb impression, degree certificate, and category certificate in the prescribed format. International Candidates who are interested in applying for GATE will be also eligible to apply. GATE 2018 will be conducted in some other countries also. These countries are Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and UAE (United Arab Emirates). The process of application film will be same for International Candidates as how it is for Indians. Each International candidates who are applying for GATE must have a valid passport.

The application fee will be very different as per the category and gender of the candidate. All the applicants who belong to the following category and gender must have to pay rupees 750 as Application Fee; the categories are SC/ ST/ PwD/ Female Candidates. Aspirants belong to any other category (General/ OBC/ Male Candidates) have to pay rupees 1500 as the Application Fee. Candidates who are international have to pay US$ 50 as their Application Fee. All interested applicants will be able to pay their fee through Net Banking, Debit Card, and E – Challan. The application fee details have provided below in a table. GATE 2018 Correction on Application Form

All the applicants will be able to do correction on GATE application form. The corrections can be done for minor modifications only. Only the candidates who have submitted their application can go for correction process. If any candidate has done any mistake in their Application Form, then the respective candidate has to send an email to the GATE authority which subjecting ‘Correction in Data (Enrollment Number)’ along with the Document Proof. Candidates will be able to do correction in the following fields.

  • Name of the Candidate.
  • DOB (Date of Birth).
  • Name of Parent/ Guardian.
  • Change in Category Status as from General to OBC and vice versa.
  • Change in the question ‘Have you graduated in the above degree?’
  • Change in Year of Qualifying the Qualifying Degree.

GATE Exam Pattern 2018

AimGATE will be commenced for the candidates who are seeking M. Tech or Ph. D program in IITs, IISc, and many other reputed institutes.
Number of PapersThe GATE 2018 examination a total of 23 papers. Each candidate is allowed to take any one of these 23 papers.
Examination ModeThe examination will be commenced in online mode as a CBT (Computer-Based Test).
Total Duration of ExaminationThe total time duration of GATE 2018 will be 3 Hours (180 Minutes).
Number and Marks of QuestionsThere will be a total of 65 questions which will sum maximum of 100 marks.
Question TypesThere will be MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) and NAT (Numerical Answer Type Questions) asked in the GATE examination. There will be 4 choices will be provided for each MCQs. There won’t be any choices given in  NAT. Candidates will be asked to provide their numerical answer with the help of a virtual keyboard in NAT.
SectionsThere will be a common section in all papers of GATE, which is called as GA (General Aptitude). The GA section will include a total of 10 questions which sums 15 marks (5 Questions of 1 Mark & 5 Questions of 2 Marks).
There is a new section added from the year of 2017 in XE paper. The new section is called as H and the same stands for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences.
 In all papers, the questions (MCQ/ NAT) will be carrying 1 or 2 marks each.
 There will be negative marking in GATE 2017 examination. The method of negative marking will be as follows. Questions which is for 1 mark will be having a negative marking of 1/3 and the same will be 2/3 for 2 mark questions. There will be no negative marking for NAT questions.

GATE 2018 Marking Method

  • 25 Questions of 1 Mark Each.
  • 30 Questions of 2 Marks Each.

  • In Part A there will be 25 questions which will be 1 mark each. This will be a common part for every candidate.
  • In Part B there will be 30 questions which will be 2 marks each. In this part, there will be two sections. Section 1 will be geology and section 2 will be geophysics.
  • 10 Questions From GA.
  • There will be a section called Section A which will be having questions from Engineering Mathematics and this is a compulsory section. There will be a total of 11 questions asked and from these 11 questions 7 will be of 1 mark each and other 4 will be of 2 marks each. This is a compulsory common section for every candidate.
  • Questions from any two of XE sections from B to H will be asked. These will be 22 questions and out of these 22 questions 9 will be of 1 mark each and other 13 will be of 2 marks each.
  • 10 Questions from GA.
  • There will be a section called Section P which will be having questions from Chemistry and this is a compulsory section. There will be a total of 15 questions asked and from these 15 questions 5 will be of 1 mark each and other 10 will be of 2 marks each. This is a compulsory common section for every candidate.
  • Questions from any two of XL sections from Q to U will be asked. These will be 20 questions and out of these 20 questions 10 will be of 1 mark each and other 10 will be of 2 marks each.
  • 10 Questions from GA.

GATE Eligibility Criteria 2018

The eligibility criteria of GATE 2018 will be as follows. All the applicants who are interested in appearing for GATE 2018 can check their eligibility criteria. There will be two parts in GATE 2018 eligibility and these will be General Eligibility and Qualifying Degree Eligibility. The details have provided below.

GATE 2018 General Eligibility

The details of general eligibility of GATE 2018 will be as follows. There will be no minimum or the maximum age limit to appear for this examination. Only those candidates who have got graduated with their qualifying degree from any recognized university will be eligible. Candidates who are pursuing the final year of their qualifying degree are also eligible to apply (Except some 5 years integrated courses and AMIE). There is no minimum percentage of marks required to appear in GATE. There is no limit for attempts to appear in this exam.

GATE 2018 – Virtual Calculator

The GATE 2018 virtual calculator is the online calculator which will be provided for candidates while appearing in the examination. Applicants will be able to do all the operations and functions in this virtual calculator. This virtual calculator will be provided during online exam only. No applicants will be getting a physical calculator in the examination. The physical calculators are prohibited inside the exam hall. Candidates must have to use the virtual calculator for solving Numerical Answer Type Questions (NAT).

GATE Admit Card 2018

GATE 2018 – Admit Card

The GATE 2018 Admit Card can be downloadable from the official web page for GOAPS. No candidates will be getting GATE 2018 Admit Card through email or post. Candidates who have successfully registered themselves for GATE 2018 will be able to download their GATE 2018 Admit Card from 5th January of 2018. Candidates have to bring the Admit Card of GATE 2018 on the examination day along with valid ID proof. Admit Card is mandatory for the examination. Candidates who fail to produce admit card on examination day will not be allowed to take the examination. The following are the acceptable ID proofs for GATE 2018. Candidates have to take any of the following proof.

  • Passport.
  • PAN Card.
  • Voter ID Card.
  • Aadhar UID Card.
  • Valid College ID Card.
  • Employee ID Card.
  • Driving Licence

For the international candidates, the following proofs will be accepted as ID proof.

  • Passport.

Tips to Prepare Well for GATE 2018

To clear GATE needs a lot of hard work and immense dedication. All the aspirants are advised to follow the following tips which said by experienced people. Candidates are advised not to stress out unduly. Take a look at the following tips to prepare well for GATE 2018.

GATE 2018 – Answer Key

The Answer Key of GATE 2018 will be released after the commencement of examination. According to the official notification, it is expected that the GATE 2018 examination will be commenced at the end of 2nd Week of February 2018. The authority of GATE will publish the answer key for each discipline separately. Candidates will be able to challenge the answer key also, there will be some fee applicable to do so. GATE Result 2018

GATE 2018 – Result

The result of GATE 2018 will be published in online mode at the official portal of GOAPS of GATE web page. It is expected that the GATE 2018 result will be published on 17th March of 2018. The authority of GATE will provide the Score Cards for the same. The score cards will be available for those candidates who secure equal or more than the cut-off marks in GATE 2018.

GATE 2018 – Score Card

All the candidates who are getting qualified in GATE 2018 with equal or more than the cut-off marks will be provided with a Score Card from the official GATE authority. These score cards will be valid up to three years from the announcement of result. Each score card will show the performance of the respective candidate in GATE test. It is expected that the facility to download the score card will be available from the 5th Week of March 2018.

GATE 2018 – Cut Off

The cut off marks show the qualification of candidates in GATE and their eligibility for getting an admission into IITs/ IISc. The cut-off mark decides that whether the applicant has qualified in the examination or not. The cut off of GATE 2018 will be different on the basis of stream and category wise. Candidates who belong to reserved category will be rewarded with the primarily low score than unreserved category candidates.

GATE 2018 – Counselling

There will be no common counseling for the candidates who are interested in joining at IITs/ IISc. Applicants who have qualified in GATE and seeking an admission in IITs/ IISc must apply individually for IITs. Aspirants will be able to apply after the announcement of notification. There will be centralized counseling for M. Tech/ M. Arch/ M. Plan (CCMT) programs in NITs. The NITs conducts the counseling process each year on the basis of GATE 2018 scores.
