JEE Main Seat Allotment 2020- After NTA declare the result of JEE Main 2020 paper 1 & 2 exams, JoSAA will soon start the process of conducting the counselling and seat allotment process for JEE Main 2020 exam. The result for both rounds of JEE Main 2020 was will be declared as per schedule announced by NTA (t bo announced). Aspirants will need to register themselves in order to appear for the JEE Main Seat Allotment 2020 and counseling process. The counseling and seat allotment procedure will be taken forward step by step, thus the JEE Main 2020 qualifying candidates will need to be a part of the step-wise procedure if they wish to get admissions on the basis of their JEE Main score. On the basis of the merit list, course choice made by the candidate, and the number of seats available, the aspirants will be allotted seats during the counselling and seat allotment process. Mock seat allotment will be done by JoSAA in the two mock rounds of JEE Main Seat Allotment 2020. After mock rounds, Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will conduct seven main rounds of counselling for aspirants. Seat allotment and counselling process will involve the following steps. Aspirants will need to follow the complete procedure in order to get seats on the basis of their scores. JEE Main Seat Allotment 2020 will begin with online registration. After registration, the candidates will get the option for filling their online choice. Seat allotment process will be considered concluded after the payment of the fee in lieu of seat acceptance by the candidate.     JEE Main Counseling 2020 and seat allotment process will be conducted for candidates belonging to different categories in different JEE Main Participating Colleges 2020. Let’s have a glimpse of differentiation of the seats on the basis of category.

    IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) and IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology)

    • It is open for candidates belonging to all categories.

    NITs (National Institutes of Technology)

    • Candidates having the same state code as that of the institute (Home State candidates)
    • Candidates belonging to the state other than the home state (Other State candidates)

    GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes)

    • Candidates from home state and other states (For Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi and IIEST Shibpur)
    • All India and home state candidates (For Assam University)
    • Only All India candidates (Other GFTIs)

    What is the procedure for JEE Main Seat Allotment 2020?

    Online registration:

    • Aspirants will need to register themselves in order to appear for the JEE Main counselling and seat allotment process. By providing their exam roll number and password they will be able to register themselves.

    Online Choice Filling:

    • After registration, candidates will have to fill their choice of colleges they want to get admissions in. as per their preference and convenience candidates will be able to fill their choices, but seats will be allotted to them on the basis of availability of seats.

    JEE Main Seat Allotment 2020:

    • On the basis of the merit list, seat availability, and college choice of candidates, they will be allotted seats. Before proceeding with the actual seven rounds for counselling, JoSAA will conduct two mock rounds of seat allotment to make candidates familiar with the seat allotment process.

    Fee Payment and Acceptance of Seat:

    • After allotment of the seat, the candidate will need to select any of the following-
    • If candidates are satisfied with the seat allotted to them and they don’t want to appear for further rounds of seat allotment, they will need to choose the “freeze”
    • If aspirants want to keep the seat allotted to them but wish to upgrade their seat, they will need to choose “float”
    • In case candidates wish to keep the seat allotted to them and also wants to upgrade their seat but in the same institute, they will need to choose “slide”
    • By reporting at the institute allotted before the last round of seat allotment the candidate can withdraw the seat, in case they have already accepted the seat and will need to select “withdraw”
    • Aspirants will need to pay Rs.40,000 in lieu of seat acceptance fee. It is Rs.20,000 for candidates belonging to SC, ST, SC-PwD, ST-PwD, GEN-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD categories. The fee is to be paid through SBI Net Banking or e-Challan.

    Document Verification:

    • After payment of fee, the candidates will need to get their required documents verified at the help centers. Candidates must get the following documents verified-
    • 12th Class Mark sheet
    • 3 passport size photographs
    • Category certificate (if applicable)
    • Date of birth proof
    • Identity card
    • JEE Main Admit Card 2020
    • JEE Main Score Card 2020
    • Proof of seat acceptance fee payment
    • Provisional JoSAA seat allotment letter

    Reporting at the institute allotted:

    • When the verification of the documents is done, the candidates will need to report to the institute allotted to them and also pay the balance admission fee.
