Merit List of JEE Main 2019

JEE Main 2019 is the entrance test for those who want to take up JEE (advanced) for admission to IITs. Since the arrangements for engineering and architecture courses have been reformed with tests in January and April, the National Testing Agency (NTA) declared a new process for calculating the NTA score, which is the base for the concluding merit list for admission to IITs. The list of merit for the admission of Engineering colleges, including Indian technology institutes, through the JEE Main 2019, is on the basis of the percentiles scores and not on the actual markers that are in accordance with the introduction A two-cycle computer-Aided examination system of 2019. From 2019, for the first time, a JEE main 2019 aspirant will have the choice to take the test twice (January and April series). The setup will see how the test is led over a period of about 14 days in each set with numerous sessions for every day, a stratagem intended to considerably decrease the probabilities of scam and manipulation.

JEE Main 2019 Rank List will be created in the subsequent method.

  • An overall of eight JEE Main Rank List for paper 1 and Paper 2 will be created on the basis of the performance of applicants in the corresponding exams.
  • The JEE Main 2019 scorecard will be issued category wise.
  • On the basis of the Main Rank List 2019, the aspirants will be chosen for the admission to numerous B.E. / B. Tech courses which are presented by 31 NITs, 20 IITs, and 18 GFTIs.
  • The JEE Main Rank List for the Paper 1 will be issued along with the announcement of JEE Main Result.
  • While computing JEE Main Rank, no importance is set to the class 12th marks, which was taken into account in the previous years.
  • Applicants must secure at least 75% marks in or be in topmost 20 percentile in the class 12th board exam directed by the particular board to get admittance in IITs, NITs, IIITs. Etc.

The candidates will receive different questions per session, and even though efforts will be made to acquire equivalence between different question papers, the level of difficulty of the question papers in different sessions may not be precisely the same. On the other hand, the percentiles score for each session is on the basis of the comparative performance of the candidates in that specific shift. Thus, the percentile scores of every session are measured at the same level.

How will the NTA Score be computed?

The NTA score will be computed using numerous steps. Every session will have its own NTA percentile score. This denotes that the Topper (top scorer) of every session obtains the same percentile of 100, and marks that are earned between the uppermost and lowermost points are transformed into equivalent percentiles. Then in addition to the overall percentile also subject-wise (mathematics, Physics, and chemistry) percentiles-scores are computed. To avoid a bundling effect and to reduce the bound values, the percentiles scores are computed up to seven decimal places.

As a final point, all percentiles scores from various sessions will be combined into one list and the overall merits and ranking will be on the basis of the percentile score in descending order. In the case of two or more aspirants who receive the same percentile, the  Inter-SE (among themselves) weight in the order of aspirants, the greater percentiles score in mathematics, trailed by physics, chemistry and lastly the applicant who is the elder is given a high rank. If still, a tie persists after that, the aspirants will be given a common rank.
