GCET Eligibility Criteria 2019 – GCET (Goa Common Entrance Test) is an entrance test conducted by the DTE (Directorate of Technical Education), Goa. It is organized for providing higher secondary passed students with admission in various undergraduate courses like engineering, Architecture, Engineering, Medical and many other profession allied courses in many renowned colleges and institutes of Goa. This exam is conducted once in a year which is a state level entrance exam. The students who want to get admission in MBBS course need to score good marks in NEET. The aspirants who want to get admission in B. Arch course have to score good marks in NATA. The application form of this exam will be released through online only in the month of month of March 2019.  This article would provide you with all the GCET Eligibility Criteria 2019 details as per the norms defined by the DTE, Goa. The students are required to go through this article in order to have all the information about Eligibility Criteria of GCET 2019. The eligibility criteria are some conditions set up by the authority according to which the students will get admission in different institutes. GCET Eligibility Criteria 2019 will give information about age limit, educational qualification, nationality etc.

According to the GCET Eligibility Criteria 2019, the following are must for a student to be eligible for GCET 2019:

  1. Nationality

    Only those candidates who have Indian Citizenship are eligible for GCET. Therefore, it necessary for a candidate to have the domicile or citizenship certificate in order to be eligible for GCET 2019. Candidates should be a resident of India for at least 10 years to get the domicile certificate. There are also a specific number of reserved seats for NRIs (Non-resident Indians) who have Indian passport. Therefore, the NRIs should apply for GCET under the NRI category which may provides them with opportunity to get admission under the reserved seat category for NRIs. Candidates who have OCI or PIO card will also be given the chance to give GCET 2019 under the NRI Reserved seats category.

    1. Age Criteria:

    Candidates seeking admission in Degree courses, such as Ayurveda,  Dentistry, Allied Health Sciences, Medicine, Homoeopathy, and Nursing should at least 17 years old as on 31st December 2019, in order to be eligible for getting admission under GCET 2019.

    There is no upper or lower specified age limit for getting admission in Engineering and Pharmacy courses, under GCET.

    1. Academic Qualification

    A candidate should be atleast 12th passed or should have given any exam with Physics, Chemistry and Maths as mandatory subject from either Goa state board or CBSE, which is considered equal to the 12th board exam, in order to be eligible for pursuing GCET. Along with this, the candidate must score at minimum 45% in the qualifying exam, whereas, candidates from OBC, SC and ST need to get at least 40% to eligible for GCET.

    1. Score Card:

    The score cards of NEET 2019 and NATA 2019 would be required for getting admission in the programs run under GCET. Therefore, students should start preparing for giving the NEET or NATA 2019 in order to clear them with good marks according to the course they will to do.

    NEET 2019 score card will help in getting admission in Medical field courses, such as- Dentistry, Medicine, BAMS (Ayurveda) and BHMS (Homeopathy). Similarly, NATA 2019 score card will be considered for giving admission to candidates in Architecture courses.

    The following are the detailed marks requirements for getting admission into following courses:

    1. Candidates who want admission in B.Sc Nursing, must be HSSC passed with Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English subjects with a minimum 45 percent aggregate marks for General students and a minimum 40 percent for SC, ST and OBC category.
    2. Applicants, who want to do B.Pharma,must be 10+2 passed from the Goa Board or its equivalent with mandatory subjects- English, Chemistry and Physics with one of the subjects being Computer Science, Mathematics, Bio-Technology or Biology. The applicant or candidate should atleast pass with a minimum 45 percent marks for general category students and at least 40 percent for SC/ST/OBC category.
    3. Those Candidates who have either passed or have appeared or are going to appear for HSSC or its equivalent exam are eligible to apply for Engineering. The mandatory subjects for going an Engineering course are English, Maths and Physics along with additional subject being one out of Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science, and Chemistry. The least marks necessary for doing Engineering courses is 45 percent for general and 40 percent for SC, ST & OBC.

    5. GCET Eligibility Criteria 2019 for the B.Sc degree holders

    All those candidates who have cleared Diploma in Engineering or B.Sc. degree with maths as one of the main subject at Class 12th and were able to secure at least 45 percentage of marks (SC, ST AND OBC candidates need to score atleast 40% marks) would be eligible for getting admission in the engineering degree course under GCET if there are vacancies.

    Reservation Criteria of GCET 2019

    After knowing about the GCET Eligibility Criteria 2019, let know in brief about the Reservation criteria of GCET 2019. The GCET 2019 would have certain number of seats reserved for applicants who come from certain castes. The number of reserved seats for the candidates coming from the Scheduled Tribes (ST) would be around 12%, whereas Schedules Caste (SC) reserved seats would be 2 percent. The seat that would be reserved for Other Backward Castes (OBC) will be 27%.

    Apart from caste based reservation, there will be reservation made on the other basis also. The reserved seats for handicapped candidates would be 3%. Seats reserved under Freedom Fighter quota would be 1%, central & state personnel would have a reservation of 3%, NRIs would have a reservation of up to 5%, Ex-defence Service personnels would get a reservation of 1%. Candidates who have their grandparents or parents from Goa would get a reservation of 2% and Kashmiri Migrants would be given reservation on supernumery basis for AICTE courses.

    All the candidates who are planning to pursue GCET must first verify that whether they are eligible for its entrance examination or not. Only those candidates who meet the requirements of GCET eligibility criteria 2019 can give its entrance test and go forward with the admission processes.
