Scholarship

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, commonly known as GATE, is a national level engineering entrance exam conducted by IIT Madras in online mode at various GATE Exam Centres 2019 across the world. GATE exam is conducted to offer admission to the deserving candidates into Masters and direct Doctoral programs in the fields of engineering, architecture or technology. Online application for GATE 2019 has already been closed on 23 September 2018 and exam is scheduled to be held in consecutive rounds from 2 February to 10 February 2019. The candidate will qualify in the exam only if they score marks more than minimum marks set by the conducting body.     Procedure to Choose GATE Exam Centres 2019

    In the online application form of GATE, the candidates have to choose 3 names of cities from the list of GATE exam centres 2019 given in the table above. The following instructions have to be followed by the candidates while selecting the exam centres in the application form.

    • Firstly, the candidates have to make sure that they have provided the basic details in the application form. Thereafter, the candidates will be given the option to select GATE exam centres as per their choice.
    • Now, the candidates have to select the exam centre as per their choice. The candidates should firstly give preference to the nearest exam centres so that they can visit the exam centre on time.
    • The candidates need to know that the first 2 exam centres must be from the same zone and the third centre must be from another zone.
    • After selection of exam centre, the candidates have to complete the rest of application process.

    Based on preference selected by the candidates, IIT Madras will allot exam centres and will publish the same on its website in January 2019. The name of allotted exam centres will be mentioned on GATE 2019 admit card.

    Instructions to be Followed at GATE Exam Centre

    On the day of exam, the candidates are suggested to follow a few instructions we have provided below.

    • The candidates have to carry a photo ID proof to the exam centres because no candidates will be allowed to enter the exam hall without showing valid ID proof.
    • The candidates are advised to visit the exam centre at least half an hour before commencement of exam.
    • During exam, the candidates will be provided Scribble pads for rough work and it must be returned back at the end exam.
    • The candidates will also provided a virtual scientific calculator for the calculation related work, it also has to be return back at the end of exam.
    • No candidates are allowed to leave the exam centre before the end time of exam.

    Negative Marking
