Aadhaar Card Not Mandatory For JEE Main 2019 Registration, Says NTA

Aadhaar card is not mandatory for JEE Main 2019 registration, a notification released by NTA make it clear. National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a notification which clearly indicates that 12 digit Aadhaar identification number issued by UIDAI is not mandatory for registering for JEE Main 2019 examination. NTA, a national level testing agency under the Department of Higher Education, has already started the online registration process for JEE Main 2019 on 1st of September 2018 and registration will close on 30 September 2018. NTA has taken the step after 12 days of JEE main registration process begun to keep away from any kind of problem faced by the applicants.

The National Testing Agency has clarified that the decision is being taken after receiving some queries about mandatory filling up of Aadhaar Number in the JEE Main 2019 and UGC-NET December 2018 application forms. According to the notification released by the NTA, the candidates can enter any valid government identity number while filling up these 2 application form. The online application form of both exams can be filled and submitted on the official website of NTA that is nta.ac.in.

    A statement from the notification released by NTA says, “it is hereby clarified that while filling in online Application Form and as per the ‘Replica of Application Form’ given in Annexure VIII (page 39-40) (UGC-NET Bulletin December 2018) in the drop down box regarding ‘Identification Type’ and as also given on page 11, the Aadhaar number is only one of the types of identification and is not mandatory”.

    The notification also added “The note on page 11 of UGC-NET Bulletin December, 2018 clearly provides that the candidates can also enter Passport number, Ration Card number, Bank Account number or any other valid Government identity number”.

Online application process for first session of JEE Main 2019 has already been started on 1 September 2018 and close on 30 September 2018. First session of JEE Main 2019 exam will be conducted from 6 to 20 January 2019, while the second session exam will be conducted from 6 to 20 April 2019. JEE Main 2019 Mock Test has been released on 7 September 2018 to practice and have genuine experience of how the exam is actually conducted.
