UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist and Geological Exam Paper Pattern

The Union Public Service Commission has commenced the admission process for the post of Geologists (Group A), Geophysicist (Group A),  Chemists  (Group A)  of  Geological Survey  of  India  and  Junior  Hydrogeologists  (Scientist  B),  Group  A and is thus accepting applications for the same . Those candidates who are interested as well as eligible for the same can apply for these posts in the pre-specified format on or prior to the 16th of August.

Vacancy details :

There are vacancies for the following specified posts:

Geologists (Group A)
Geophysicist (Group A)
Chemist (Group A)
Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B)


Language of the paper:

The medium of the paper will be in General English Language that will be common across all the categories.

Paper Pattern:


The test for the post of geologist will consist of the following three papers.

Geology Paper I
Geology Paper II
Geology Paper III


The test for the post of Geophysicists will consist of the following three papers

Geophysics Paper I
Geophysics Paper II
Geophysics Paper III



The test for the post of Chemist will consist of questions from the following three papers:

Chemistry Paper I
Chemistry Paper II
Chemistry Paper III

Junior Hydrogeologist:

The test for the post of a Junior Hydrogeologist will consist of the following three papers:

Geology Paper I
Geology paper II

Duration and total marks:

The duration of the exam will be for around Three hours and will consist of an overall 200 marks.

Those candidates who deem themselves both interested as well as eligible will have to visit the official website for the whole detailed procedure.
