MP DMAT 2015 examination postponed due to flaws in the OMR sheets

The MP DMAT that was scheduled for July 12th was deferred on Friday due to the examining authorities developing cold feet over the prospect of scanning optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets which was a source of major irregularities in the Vyapam scam.

Rattled by the directive of the Jabalpur bench of Madhya Pradesh high court to ensure scanning of 18,500 OMR sheets at the respective exam centres, the Association of Private Dental Medical Colleges of Madhya Pradesh (APDMC) have decided to postpone the test.

The MP DMAT Examination has been the centre of scams.

The APDMC claim that the insiders have not been successful in rectifying the flaws in the OMR sheets which the MPPEB scamsters have exploited to rig the marks of hundreds of candidates in the last 7 years.

The secretary association of private dental and medical colleges APDMC Anupan Chouksey claimed, “It was not possible to scan all the OMR sheets in such short span of time. Fresh dates will be announced soon.”

The MP DMAT 2015 exam was first scheduled for June 21st but was later postponed to July 12th.

On Thursday the High Court had issued notices to the state home ministry, health department, police, medical council of India (MCI) and Admission and Fee Regulatory Commission (AFRC) following a PIL seeking CBI probe into the alleged DMAT exam.

The petitioner Abhay Chopra has alleged large scale irregularities in admission into medical colleges via DMAT in his petition claiming that those candidates who paid kickbacks secured admissions in any college of their choice irrespective of their performance in MP DMAT.

During the hearing Narsinghpur resident Ritu Verma who was supposed to appear for MP DMAT submitted an alleged audio tape of an agent who promised to help her bag a top rank if she pays a certain amount as bribe. “In this audio tape, I hammered out a deal with an agent between June 24 and 30 and he promised me first rank in MP DMAT against payment of Rs 52 lakh,” said Verma.

The lawyer of Ritu verma Mr. Aditya Singhi stated that she belongs to the OBC category and despite having a good DMAT score she was denied admission thrice in the last 3 years.
