The common counseling for admissions to NITs and IITs that was conceived as a noble idea but has turned out to be a nightmare for children and parents as the wait is not ending.
The CBSE was supposed to release the JEE Main ranks yesterday but it failed to do so yet again which translates to the joint admission board having to postpone ranking as the joint sear allocation is yet to be done. Registration and Filling-in of choices in JoSAA portal can begin only after CBSE announces JEE (Main) 2015 Paper-1 and Paper-2 ranks. After CBSE announces the ranks, it will take at least 2 to 3 hours to open the JoSAA portal to the candidates for online registration and choice filling-in at JoSAA site,” the IIT JEE (Advanced) website announced.
Delay gives rise to blame games
Senior officers are playing the blame game claiming the delay is due to extraneous factors. “Since ranking has to give 40% weightage to class XII results, we realized results of state boards do not come at the same time,” he said. “Work is going on relentlessly and we will have the ranking very soon, may be on Wednesday. We had asked state boards to give results by June 22,” he added.
The HRD ministry claims that the entire operation could have been panned out in a systematic way by the CBSE . A HRD official stated, “A bigger problem could be in store when actual joint allocation begins. There will be technical glitch and that could delay the process even further.” He also claimed if any further delay takes place IITs and NITs could also take the plea that common counseling should be done from next year. There is also a view that the NITs and IITs are not keen on joint counseling and there only consented due to pressure from the Ministry.
