IIM-B to help out candidates with disability for CAT 2016

Candidates with disability, those who have applied for the CAT 2016, can correct their mistakes in application forms even after the submission.

The candidates under the persons with disability (PWD) class, who have applied for this year’s CAT (Common Aptitude Test), have an option to correct their mistakes in application forms even after the submission. This is for the CAT Application form webpage. The information can be edited from October 1 till October 5.

The final date for registrations of CAT 2016 by the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) will be on 22 September by 5 pm

The Common Aptitude Test (CAT) application webpage should have a separate tab dedicated for the assistance required by PWD candidates. The option would include applying for a scribe, requesting for a wheelchair, enabling a zoom feature and lots of helpful options.

All the candidates must have a committed help desk to clear any doubts – catpwdsupport@iimb.ernet.in.

In addition, for candidates with visual difficulty, questions alternate to pictures, maps or graphs graphs would be provided for the students during the test. On the day of the test (December 4), PWD candidates would be given priority access (15 minutes before the start of the exam permitting other candidates) to the test venue for registrations.

Each test centres should have a PWD coordinator to assist the candidate and the coordinators number would be provided to the students ahead of the test. Each of the centres would also have a functional wheelchair accessible to any candidate who can need mobility assistance.

The Management has alerted aspirants against the final minute registrations.

Prof. Rajendra K Bandi, Convener, CAT 2016 has said, “Going by the trends of earlier years, there would be a high surge in the number of registrations in the last 2-3 days, which will increased the load on servers and can potentially impact server response time. Candidates are advised to register before the time and avoid last minute inconvenience.”

Some common details of CAT 2016:

  • The test would be held in two sessions conducting around 138 cities on Sunday, 4 December
  • The students has the option to choose any  four cities according to their order of preference
  • Examinations Centers will be assigned to the candidates  before the final date of registration which is September 22
  • After the submission of applications, students can also save or download their admit cards from October 18 until the date of the test.
