Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) Telangana is also called as Andhra Pradesh Open University and was established on 26th August 1982. The university is situated in the city of Hyderabad with a wide network of around 206 study centres.

The university offers a number of under graduate programs in different disciplines which further have a number of specializations. Applications are called in by the university for BA (in 4 disciplines), B.Com and B.Sc. in which those of you who are interested can get admissions by clearing the entrance test which is organized by the university.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) UG Admissions 2017 Eligibility Criteria

BA , B.Com & B.Sc

BA Economics You need to have cleared class 12th or its intermediate from a recognized council/board.
BA Psychology
BA Sociology
BA Political Science
B.Sc. You need to have cleared class 12th or intermediate from a recognized council/board from Science stream.



The B.Ed program is conducted for a duration of 2 years and the eligibility is as follows:

  • You need to possess a degree in B.Sc/ BA/ B.Com. (Home Science)/ BBM/ BCA/ BBA from this university or any other UGC recognized with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • You need to have secured at least 55% marks (45% for ST/SC candidates) in B.Tech/B.E with Mathematics/Science as one of the subjects or any other qualification which is equivalent would also be eligible to apply for B.Ed.
  • Those who are appearing for final year examination can also apply.
  • You need to have a minimum of 2 years teaching experience or temporary teacher in any Primary/Middle/High School which is recognized by Central/ State/ Government/ Union Territory.
  • You need to be a citizen of India.

Age limit eligibility

You need to have completed 21 years of age as on 1st July 2017. There would be no upper age limit.

Bachelor of Education [B.Ed] (Special Education)

Specializations under B.Ed. (Special Education) course (2½ years) are as follows:

  1. Visual Impairment
  2. Hearing Impairment
  3. Mental Retardation

All the 3 courses mentioned above have the following Eligibility criteria:

  • You need to be a citizen of India.
  • You need to possess a bachelors degree or Masters degree in Science/Commerce/Social Sciences/ Humanities with a minimum of 50% marks and 40% marks (for ST/SC/BC/PH category candidates).
  • Those who are appearing in the qualifying exam can also apply

Age limit eligibility

You need to complete 21years of age as on 1st July 2016. There would be no upper age limit.

How To Apply for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) UG Admissions 2017?

  • Firstly you would have  to register online for the eligibility test from the university website “www.braouonline.in”
  • After that you would have to select the examination centre where you want to appear for the eligibility test and collect the information brochure.
  • You would have to fill the online registration form and upload your photograph and signature.
  • Then you would have to submit the following registration fees:
INR 200/- or INR 210/- for BA, B.Sc. and B.Com.
INR 435/- for BHM, B.Ed., BPR
  • You need to pay the registration fee by Credit/Debit card or any A.P online franchisee centres
  • Then you need to click on “confirmpaymentbutton” and the payment receipt would be generated.
  • You need to take a printout of registration form from the university website along with fee payment receipt.
  • You need to bring the following enclosures at the time of online registration in the eligibility test.

  4. Medical Board Certificate (for PH candidates)
  5. Study Certificates (IX to Degree) or Residence Certificate
  6. Social Category (if applicable)

  9. Degree Provisional Certificate and Year wise Marks Memos
  10. Service certificate as on date of the admission counseling.
  11. Integrated Caste Certificate, if applicable
