CLAT 2018 – Common Law Admission Test conducted by 18 National Law Universities (NLUs) rotationally and is one of the most popular law entrance examinations. The CLAT Examination is conducted on second Sunday of the May month every year. Common Law Admission Test is the all India level law common entrance examination for the admission in integrated LL.B. and LL.M. programme. CLAT 2018 New Changes

  • As per the new changes introduced there is a restriction on Age Limit in UG Courses: Before the year 2016, there was no maximum age limit set for CLAT UG courses but now the CLAT committee has added maximum age criteria i.e. 20 years as on 1st July 2018 for NRIs/NRI/Unreserved/Sponsored categories candidates.
  • The Age Limit for SC/ST/OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) category candidates, is 22 years as on 1st July 2018.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2018

Candidates are required to check the CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2018 for undergraduate and postgraduate law courses which is given below:

For PG Courses:

  • There is no Age limit for candidates appearing for PG Courses.
  • Candidates should have qualified the prescribed qualification LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons.) and any other equivalent exam.
  • Aspirants should have a minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination which is 55% for OBC/unreserved /Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and in the case of ST/SC, the minimum marks are 50%.
  • Candidates who are currently appearing in the qualifying exams are also eligible for CLAT 2018.

For UG Courses:

  • As per the new changes introduced there is a restriction on Age Limit in UG Courses: Before the year 2016, there was no maximum age limit set for CLAT UG courses but now the CLAT committee has added maximum age criteria i.e. 20 years as on 1st July 2018 for NRIs/NRI/Unreserved/Sponsored categories candidates.
  • The Qualification requirement for CLAT is that a candidate should have passed the 12th examination with minimum 45% marks and 40% for SC/ST candidates.
  • Candidates who are currently appearing in the 12th examination in March/April will also be eligible for CLAT 2018.

How to apply for CLAT 2018 Application Form

CLAT Application Form 2018  will be available in the month of January 2018(tentatively). Candidates are required to fill the application form via Online mode only.

Step by Step details for filling the CLAT Application form is given below:

Step 1: Registration

  • Firstly, candidates have to visit the official website of CLAT(clat.ac.in) and then have to apply for ‘New Registration’ by clicking on the registration link given on the site and fill in all the required details. After entering the details applicants will get security code and have to submit the form and save the details received.

Step 2: Login & filling the form

  • Candidates have to save the login details are required to login with the provisional ID and Password received.

Step 3: Filling the details

  • The candidate has to fill the Application form by providing all the basic details like the Category & Nationality, Name, Academic details, Exam Center choice,  etc.
  • Scanned photograph and signature of the applicants are required as per the specifications asked in the form.

Step 4: Payment of Fees

  • For completing the registration process the candidate must pay the fee for the application form. Payment of the application fee will be through Debit/Credit or Net Banking or Offline by Bank Challan.

Step 5: Print Confirmation Page

  • After successfully submitting the application form and payment of fees,  Candidate is required to take print out of the confirmation page.

The CLAT Exam Pattern 2018 for PG and UG Courses is provided below:

For PG Courses:

  • The CLAT Examination will be held online for Post-graduate law courses (LL.M.).
  • The Examination will have only multiple-choice questions (MCQ) of maximum 150 marks which include questions from every subject.
  • The duration for CLAT Examination will be of 2 hours.
  • The Language for examination will be only English.
  • For each correct answer, 1 mark will be given.
  • The examination has a Negative Marking scheme where 0.25 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

CLAT Syllabus 2018

  • CLAT Syllabus 2018 will be officially declared on their website by the concerned authority.
  • The syllabus is different for UG  and PG Course. UG syllabus include General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, English Comprehension and Elementary Mathematics.
  • Whereas,  PG Syllabus include  Jurisprudence Constitutional Law and other subjects like Torts, International Law, Contract, Criminal Law, Human Rights and Environment Law.

  • The Candidates who are successfully registered will be eligible for downloading the CLAT 2018 admit card.
  • The Admit card will be available on the CLAT website tentatively in the third week of April 2018.

  • It is necessary for candidates to carry Admit Card along with some identity proof at the examination hall.

CLAT Counselling 2018

  • CLAT Counselling 2018 will tentatively start from the first week of June 2018.
  • Candidates who have successfully cleared the examination will be eligible for admission to UG and PG programmes which will be done through counselling organised by CLAT office.
  • Counselling for CLAT 2018 will be held Online and will consist of 4 rounds.
  • The Seat Allotment will be on the basis of ‘merit-cum-preference’.
  • The Candidates who get selected for admission after the counselling will have to pay the counselling fee of Rs.  50,000/- at the CLAT Office.
