CAT 2015 : Process of Scoring and Equity.

In accordance with the official notification the CAT is scheduled to be held on the same day but in two separate sessions and the two different test forms shall be monitored in two test sessions. For the purpose of ensuring fairness and equity in comparison of the performances of the candidates across various test sessions the scores of the candidate will be subjected to the process of Normalization which shall adjust for location and the scale variances of the score differences panning different forms. Post normalization across various forms the scores will then further be subjected to normalization panning various sections and then the scaled scores that will be obtained via this process will be converted into percentiles for short listing purposes.

For reporting purposes the scaled scores that are obtained for each section i.e. section I: Quantitative Ability, section II: Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and section III: Verbal Ability will then be published alongside the percentiles.

The Normalization process is a well-established practice for the purpose of comparing candidates scores panning multiple forms and is parallel to the practices that’s being adopted via other large educational selection tests that are conducted in India for example Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).

For the purpose of normalization the institute shall be employing a sort of percentile equivalence.
