1. Who Conducts the XAT Examination?

XLRI ( Xavier Labour Resource Institute) conducts XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test ) examination on behalf of XAMI for more than 60 years now. It is conducted on All India level to select the best candidates for the admission in the postgraduate program. About 150 B- Schools or participating institutes will accept XAT score for admission in their respective courses.

  1. What is the eligibility criteria for XAT 2019?

    The candidates must have completed Bachelor’s Degree of minimum three years duration or equivalent from any discipline and recognized university. The candidates those who will complete their final examination by June 10, 2019, can also apply for the same. All Indian candidates are eligible to appear for XAT 2018. Even  NRI and Foreign candidates are eligible to apply through GMAT score. Furthermore, there are no minimum or maximum age limit is set up by the examination conducting authority i.e. XLRI.

    1. How can I Register for XAT 2019 Examination?

    Candidates need to get the application form online to register themselves for XAT 2019 and need to check the XAT Important Dates 2019 that has been released with the release of notification on 14th August 2019. Aspirants can register for the test till November 30, 2018, without late fee. However, one can also apply until the 3rd week of December 2018 along with a late fee. The form will be generated online only after XAT Login ID and Password will be allotted to the candidate. While registering for the test, candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs 1700+ 300 for XLRI Program and that for the late fee, the applicants have to pay Rs 2000+ 500 for XLRI program.

    1. How much is the application fee and through which mode the payment can be done?

    The payment for application fee is mandatory. XLRI has increased the number of fees. The application form will not process further without the payment of fees. The amount of application is as follows:

    • Application Fee- Rs. 1700, INR 300 per XLRI course
    • Application Fee, if paid later(after November 30, 2018)- Rs. 2000, INR 500 per XLRI course

    The payment can be done in both online and offline mode.

    2.       Demand Draft- Candidate can pay the fee through DD in favor of “XLRI Jamshedpur A/c XAT” payable at Jamshedpur.


    *Candidates paying through DD will have to send the print out of the confirmation page at XAT office within 15 days from the day of issuance of DD.

    1. When are XAT 2018 results out?

    Results will be made available on the official website of XLRI in the last week of January 2019. After the declaration of result, the candidates based on their marks obtained in XAT 2019 will get shortlisted for the further round of selection procedure.

    1. What is the selection procedure for XAT 2019?

    The admission to XLRI has been categorized into two phases –

    Stage 1– Short-Listing of Candidates: The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in XAT Entrance Examination. XAT score will consist of three sections: Verbal Ability, Decision Making, and Quantitative Aptitude. General knowledge marks will be included in Stage 2 of the selection process.

    Stage 2– Final Selection: Most of the B-schools follow Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds for the final selection process. Once these rounds are completed, total score will be calculated on the basis of XAT 2019 score, GD, PI, General Knowledge, past Academic records, work experience (if any), and overall profile. On the basis of these scores, merit list is prepared and the admissions are offered.

    1. Is it possible to edit the application form, once submitted?

    Yes, You will be allowed to edit your information after the opening of application form correction window from the 3rd week of August to the 3rd week of December. Thereafter, you will not be allowed to make any further changes in the form.

    1. What are the test cities of XAT 2019?

    The entrance test of XAT 2019 will be conducted in 46 cities across the country. However, earlier XAT examination was conducted in 47 cities in India and there were two international test centres in Kathmandu and Dubai which have been removed for this year.     1. What will be the mode of examination, when it is conducted and the duration of the test?

    The XAT 2019 examination will be conducted on 6th of January 2019 through online mode. Further, the duration of the XAT 2019 test will be of 3 hours i.e. from 10:00 am to 01:00 pm.
