CAT Exam Pattern 2018
The CAT test is computer – based that is online mode only. The marks allotted are 300 and consists of 100 multiple choices as well as Non- MCQ with time duration of 180 minutes. Each section is given 60 minutes to attempt the question and you cannot switch to the next section without completing the time duration. On-screen calculator is allowed to solve the question. The questions paper is divided into three sections that are
- Quantitative Ability ( QA)
- Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension ( VARC)
- Logical Reasoning &Data Interpretation ( DI & LR)
Each correct question carries 3 marks and there is a negative marking of (-1) for all wrong answers and no negative marking for unattempted questions. In Quantitative Ability, the questions that include the topics are the number system, algebra, permutation, and combination. Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VARC) section covers questions from reading comprehension and para-jumbles. Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation covers questions from the following topics – Tables, Bar Graph, Data sufficiency assumptions, Pie chart, blood relation, syllogism, seating arrangements, etc.
