Bachelor of Physiotherapy Course Details

Bachelor of Physiotherapy or BPT is a first-year student Academic Course in a Medical Science Field recognized as Physiotherapy. Physiotherapy uses physical agents like workout, massage and distinct modalities for providing treatment to those patients whose reaction and function are threatened by ageing, injury, infection or environmental factors. The length of Bachelor of Physiotherapy is 4½ years including internship of 6 months. Physical Therapy Programs provide essential skills like manual therapy, therapeutic workout and the application of electro physical modalities, to the prospective students. There are several Physical Therapy Institutions which provide Physiotherapy Courses. Physical Therapy Degree Course is specifically destined for those students who have sympathy for the sick or bruised. Physiotherapy is very challenging and demanding as one may need to work for long hours and have tremendous patience as some patients may not reply to immediate treatment. Apart from rigorous education, one needs to have lots of physical energies because of the nature of the work. Bachelor of Physiotherapy Eligibility Criteria

  • To pursue Bachelor of Physiotherapy the students need to pass their 12thclass or equivalent examination with a minimum total of 50% marks in biology, physics and chemistry (including practical) provided the student has to pass in each and every subject separately. There is a Common Entrance Test (CET) for the course in Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT). Admission is based mainly on Common Entrance Test (CET) scores. A candidate should be at least 17 years of age for seeking admission in Bachelor of Physiotherapy.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy Internal Assessment

  • It shall be based on appraisal of periodic examinations projects, clinical performances etc.
  • Regular periodic exams should be conducted throughout the course.
  • There should be a minimum of two (2) sessional exams during I, II, III and last year. The average of the two exam marks must be abridged to 20 and 10 for Theory and Practical/Clinical correspondingly, and sent to the University before the University examination as per announcement.
  • A Candidate must acquire a 50% mark in theory and practical separately in internal valuation to be suitable to write the university examination.

Schedule of Examination

  • There will be two exams in a year, to be led as per notice delivered by the University from time to time.
  • First, Second, Third and Final Examinations of Bachelor of Physiotherapy course shall be detained at the end of 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year respectively. The particulars of subjects for many examinations and distribution of marks are shown separately in Tables V to VIII.
  • The exam for main subjects shall be conducted by the University and for subsidiary subjects by the own institution.
