Bachelor of Pharmacy – B.Pharm Course Details

A Bachelor of Pharmacy commonly known as B.Pharm Course is an undergraduate programme in the field of Pharmacy. This course will help the students to known about pros and cons of medicines and skills to practice the profession of pharmacy. For getting the license to work as a pharmacist B.Pharm qualification is the basic requirement. Applicants will get thorough knowledge of mixture & analysis of medicinal agents, their method and mechanism of action, drug connections, patient counseling and sufficient technical information to be exchanged with the physician and other health professionals. The Duration of this degree course is for 4 years which is spread over 6 to 8 semesters which differ from institute to institute. In some states it is compulsory to give an additional pharmacy entrance examination in order to be eligible for the programme. D.Pharm (Diploma of Pharmacy) holders are eligible for admission into B.Pharm into the second year directly via Lateral entry in India.

Those applicants who are interested to get admission in this course must satisfy the given conditions:

  • Applicants passed in Higher Secondary Certificate Examination with Mathematics or Biology as one of the subjects.
  • Applicants must score a minimum of 50% of aggregate marks to in their HSC examination to apply for this course.
  • Applicants those who are entering direct to second year through lateral entry must have completed diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) with at least 50% of marks in both first and second year to be eligible for this course.
