Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery – BAMS Course is an incorporated Indian Degree in the medical field. This degree program is conferred to those students who studied traditional Ayurved and modern medicines.
Ayurveda is one of the earliest medical systems of the world. It gets its roots to the Vedic period. It is not only providing the cure but also puts a stop to the reappearance of diseases. According to the Ayurvedic, there are 3 types of disorders or disfunctions in the human body: Pitta, Kapha and Vata.
The Ayurvedic system of medical care is on the basis of the concept where the natural healing capacity of the body is enhanced by the Ayurvedic therapy. The Ayurvedic treatment consists of the dropping symptoms, eliminating impurities, dropping worry, rising fighting of disease and growing harmony of patient’s life.
The Ayurvedic system is a trustful medical system in order to prevent, cure and rejuvenate. It takes more time to make the patient fit as before, but once the patient has been treated through this medical system, he would find him better than he was before.
Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery – BAMS Course Details
Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS) is a graduate degree course in Ayurvedic system. This degree is given after finishing 5 years and 6 month degree program consisting of 4 and 1/2 year academic session and one year internship program with live practical.
The whole course consists of the principles of medicines, modern anatomy, physiology, social and forensic medicine, preventive medicines, principle of surgery, toxicology, botany ENT and pharmacology. Graduates use the title “Vaidyar” before their name (abbreviation is Vr.)
The basic requirement for the eligibility to get the admission to BAMS program is qualifying the 10+2 exam with a good score. The candidate should have the chemistry, physics and biology in class 12th. The candidate need to go through the different national and state level entrance examination like:
- AIPMT – All India Pre-Medical Test
- AIIMS – All India Institute of Medical Science
- PGIMER – Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research
Selection of the candidate is on the basis of the final merit as the sum of the total numbers gained in the qualifying examination as 12th and the number scored in the entrance examinations.
Career & Jobs after BAMS Course
Day by day, the scope of Ayurvedic overlaps to the other medical system not only in India but also around the world. In many cases the people have taken the knowledge for the trustfulness of the Ayurvedic system and medicines treating for the non-healable and chronic disease.
The candidate who have the BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) degree are eligible to be called as a doctor and are also eligible to do private practice.
Salary Range after BAMS Course
Some universities provide stipend of 40 thousand to 50 thousand per month to the post-graduate doctors in Ayurvedic field whereas in the job an Ayurvedic professional may gain the salary from 15000 to 50000 depending on the role and nature of her/his job profile.
