AMD Recruitment 2017 – Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research is the eldest unit of the Department of Atomic Energy. Under the Atomic Energy Act, Dr. D N Wadiapassed by the Government of India on 15th April in the year 1948 and followed by the creation of the Atomic Energy Commission on 10th August, in the year 1948, Atomic Minerals Directorate was also created on 29th July in the year 1949 as ‘Rare Minerals Survey Unit’ with head office in New Delhi. It was retitled first as ‘Raw Materials Division’ and then as ‘Atomic Minerals Division’ in the year 1958. Atomic Minerals Directorate’s head office was later shifted to Hyderabad during the year 1974. In keeping with its developing stature as one of the country’s foremost scientific organizations involved in multi-disciplinary and multi-faceted exploration-cum-analytical-cum research activities, the ‘Division’ was renamed as a ‘Directorate’ on 29th July in the year 1998 on the eve of its stepping into the ‘Golden Jubilee’ Year.
Atomic Minerals Directorate started its operations on 3rd October 1950 with a nucleus of 17 geoscientists which have grown to 2,777 personnel on date.
