AAT Exam 2018 – Registration Exam Dates Eligibility Criteria

 Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) Seven zonal coordinating Indian Institute of Technology conduct the AAT every year. It is also known as Architecture Aptitude Test. Candidates can get admission into B Arch programmes as only IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee offer this architecture program. Candidates must appear for the entrance exam to seek admission in the above mentioned courses. The entrance exam will take place in 2018, which will take place after JEE advanced 2018. All eligible candidates must register themselves on the JEE Advanced portal. Then, candidates can appear for the AAT entrance exam. The registrations will begin after announcement of JEE Advanced 2018 results. The implementation committee of JEE advanced will decide the cut-off marks for this exam.

All candidates seeking admission must pass the entrance test to get admission into the desired courses of architecture. Candidates must secure cut-off marks to be eligible for the admission and seat allotment process. This entrance test has no separate ranking and there are no cut-off marks for any student category.  The entrance test registration will start in the second week of June 2018. For candidates to register, they must visit the official portal of the entrance exam. Candidates need to visit the official portal of JEE advanced for getting themselves registered. Candidates are required to make registrations with their JEE Advanced registration number, and then, they must enter their date of birth for registration.

  • The exam will take place at several IITs across the country. Candidates will get three hours to complete the question paper. Candidates must also note that they will receive no admit cards for this test. Candidates must bring their JEE advanced admit cards to the exam Centre for verification purposes. Hence, candidates must retain the admit card of JEE Advanced 2018.  This entrance exam gives admission to candidates into various B. Arch program.

    All candidate will get admission into IIT Kharagpur and its related institutions based on the performance of the candidate in the entrance examination. Also, candidates must note that the cut-off score for the entrance exam will be decided by the Joint Implementation Committee Of JEE (Advanced) 2018. All candidates who qualify in the AAT entrance exam will be able to secure admission for the B. Arch course at IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee in 5-year B. Arch programs.

    The exacts dates for this entrance exam have not yet been released by the exam authorities. We have however formulated a table that shows the most tentative dates for registering in the entrance exam. Although these dates mentioned below are not final and are subject to changes, candidates can still refer to these:

    AAT 2018 Registration

    Candidates must register themselves what is test. Candidates and register on the official website of JEE advanced. Only eligible candidates can apply for the test. Candidates who qualified JEE advanced are eligible for this test. The registration process will commence through online mode. Here, the registration process takes the place of the AAT application form as there are no registration forms for the exam. Offline registrations are not available for this entrance exam. The registration portal will be open for two working days and, as such, candidates who fulfil the registration criteria must apply during this time span. Candidates must apply before the last date of application closing. Candidates must note that without qualifying for JEE advanced, they cannot appear for the architecture aptitude test.

    AAT 2018 Exam Eligibility Criteria

    Entrance exam has no eligibility criteria. All candidates qualifying JEE advanced 2018 are eligible for this test. Hence candidates must qualify JEE advanced 2018. After that candidates can apply for the entrance test. Upon qualifying in this entrance exam, candidates can get admission into IIT Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur for their B. Arch programs. Any candidate who does not meet the eligibility criteria will not be eligible to appear in the Architecture Admission Test 2018. To be eligible for admission into any of the two colleges in the desired courses, candidates must qualify the entrance exam and secure the minimum cut-off marks that shall be given by the council.

    AAT 2018 Exam Pattern

    Students will get total of three hours to complete the architecture aptitude test. The question paper will publish in English language only. Candidates must bring their own set of pens and rulers and pencils for the entrance exam. The paper contains questions from Architecture Awareness, Geometry, Three-Dimensional Perception, etc.

    AAT 2018 Syllabus

    The Exam council has prescribed the required syllabus for the AAT 2018 entrance exam. The syllabus for architecture aptitude test contains freehand drawing. Three-dimensional perception. Imagination. Geometrical drawing. Aesthetic sensitivity. Architectural awareness. The test will check the architectural awareness of the candidate. Candidates must be aware of the topics to prepare for the test.

    Freehand Drawing: This contains of simple drawing that depicts objects in its correct form and proportion, the surface texture of the object, the relative location of the object and its component parts in the composition of the entire picture. 

    Geometrical Drawing: includes exercises in geometrical drawings of line, triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, polygons, etc. This also includes the study of plans, the elevation of objects like cone, prism, cylinders, cubes and splayed surface holders etc.

    Three- Dimensional Perception: includes the appreciation of 3 dimensional forms of objects with building elements, their colour, volume and the orientation of the same. Also includes visualizing objects in memory through structuring them.

    Imagination and Aesthetic Sensitivity: includes common exercise with given elements. Mapping of context. Checking of creativity through uncommon innovative tests with familiar objects. And inclusion of colour grouping or application of same.

    Architectural Awareness: includes general awareness and interest in famous architectural creations of both national and international origin, as well as places and personalities of the same under the related domain.

    AAT 2018 Admit Card

    Candidates will not get any new admit cards for the test. All candidates appearing for this test must bring their JEE advanced admit card. Candidate must show is admit card at the exam centre. Candidates seeking admission in B. Arch programmes must keep their JEE advanced admit card. Candidates without admit cards will not be allowed to sit in the exam hall. Candidates must have a valid JEE 2018 admit card to appear for the AAT 2018 entrance exam.

    AAT 2018 Result

    The council will announce the results in the fourth week of June 2018. The council will declare the results after the commencement of exam. Candidate must wait two days for declaration of results. Candidates can view their results on the official website. Candidates must visit the official website of JEE advanced 2018. The council will examine all papers carefully and then declare the results. There is no separate ranking list for the exam, and neither is there any separate category wise cut-off for the exam.

    The Joint Implementation Committee of JEE Advanced will decide the cut-off score and candidates scoring equal or more than cut-off marks will qualify for the exam. All candidates will get allotment on-based of all India rank that they will have secured in the entrance exam. Candidates must check their all India rank of JEE 2018 the joint see the location authority will conduct the seat allotment process.

    Qualified candidate must register for the JOSAA 2018 counselling session.  The seat allotment list of candidates will be published on the official website of the exam conducting authority. Candidates will have to visit the official website of JOSAA to check seat allotments.

    AAT 2018 Cut-Off

    The cut-off score of the entrance exam will be decided by the exam conducting authority, which is the Joint Implementation Committee of JEE Advanced. All applying candidates will be able to view their cut-off score and the minimum required marks to qualify in the exam from the official website of the exam council. Also, candidates must note that only those candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria will be able to sit for the seat allotment process under the participating institutes.

    AAT 2018 Seat Allotment

    The seat allotment process for the AAT 2018 will commence on the basis of the All India Ranks of candidates in the qualifying examination. The exam authority will begin declaration of the first list of allotted candidates in the third week of June 2018. The candidate will get allotment to their desired colleges on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination.
